Matt and Olivia.
A funny pair.
Can't stand each other but can't live without one another.
So many turning points in their relationship... its hard to keep track.Second grade.
Olivia remembers the day they met like no other.
She had just moved to Somerville, Massachusetts after living all her life in Colombia. English wasn't really her strong suit; she was just very confident, so she spoke her broken English without a problem. She remembered walking into the class and being so confused as to why 3 people looked exactly the same.
She approached them during recess with her broken English and confident smile. They were sitting down on the ground, drawing with chalk.
"Why are you guys look the same?" She asked the one in the middle who looked up and smiled, he seemed to be the friendliest one.
He stood up as his other two brothers stayed down but were looking up at them.
"We are triplets!" The boy said as she nodded still confused
"Triplets?"
"Yes! like twins! but 3," He smiled at her as she nodded once again pretending she understood.
"You can stay with us if you would like, My name is Chris! What's yours?"
"Olivia!" She said as she sat down in front of the 3 boys, wanting to draw with them.
"That is Nick and that's Matt!" The boy said pointing at his brothers."Hello, Matt and Nick!" She said waving at both the kids. Nick smiled and waved back, Matt stayed quiet and furrowed his eyebrows.
Matt focused on how confident and relaxed she seemed in front of people she just met! He couldn't help but feel jealous about how comfortable she seemed, he wanted to be like that. He found it super hard warming up to new people, something his brothers didn't have a problem with.
The way she laughed and smiled made him feel... weird. He had never felt that way when a girl looked at him like that.Nick and Chris laughing at something she had said, brought him back to the conversation. He noticed that she had taken one of the colors he was using. Matt quickly snatched the chalk back as she looked taken aback and so did his siblings, and quite frankly so did he.
"Matt! Why did you do that?" Nick asked as he looked at the girl, who seemed sad.
"I was using that color!" Matt said as the girl nodded"Sorry," She said quietly, her heavy accent prominent as ever.
After that Olivia did everything she could to try and get Matt to like her, he just never seemed to open up to her.
Nick, Chris, and Olivia grew closer.
And there wasn't a stop anytime soon.
Valentine's day in 8th grade.
It had been about 6 years since she became friends with the triplets; or 2 of the triplets. She had decided since that moment at recess back in second grade, she would try and force Matt to be her friend.
So that morning, she walked into school smiling with 5 handwritten cards and 5 chocolates.
For Alahna, Nick, Chris, Nate, and Matt.
For her closest friends and Matt.
