"How have you been?" he asked as she nodded looking back to the stars

 "Great," She lied as she turned to him, he nodded pressing his lips together. 
"Aren't you going to ask me how I have been?" Vinnie tried to joke, shifting closer to her.

"What do you want Vinnie?" She asked as she shifted away from him.

"I'm sorry for all the mistakes I made," Vinnie said as he shifted to be in front of her. He grabbed her hands, she looked down at their intertwined hands. 

She didn't let go. 

"I want to make it up to you... I want to be the boyfriend I promised I would be," He said tightening his grip on her hands.

Her eyes watered. 

She looked back at him, she felt nothing.

All she could think of at this very moment was... 

Matthew.

She didn't understand why she was thinking of him.
For most of her life, all she has thought about was him.

'Why does he hate me?

He has pretty eyes.

How do I get him to be my friend?

Why is he such a jerk?

Why can't we just be friends?

I hate him! 

Why is he so confusing?

Why does he so damn attractive?

Why does he have to be my best friend's sibling?

Why is he acting like this?

Why is he being so... protective?

Why won't he be my friend?'

All these thoughts went through her mind when she thought about Matt, ever since she met him in second grade, till now.
She didn't understand why, after all this time, she cared about him so deeply, when it was obvious that he just... hated her.

That's why tears were trickling down her face.

"Oh I'm sorry Liv," Vinnie said as he let go of her hands to grab her face and wipe the tears, she quickly swatted his hands away. 

She stood up as she looked down at him, at his shocked expression.

"Please, stop texting me." Olivia choked out as she calmed down.

"but Liv-" Vinnie started as she nodded her head no.

"Vinnie, we are over. We have been over," She said as his shocked face turned into an angry one.
She quickly walked back inside, trying to reach the bathroom, pushing people out of the way.


Suddenly somebody grabbed her arm, turning her to him.
"What happened? Are you okay?" 

She looked up to see Matt. 

The person she wanted to see.
The person who hates her. 

She turned to look at the door and he looked back to see Vinnie walking in, he turned back to her.

She looked scared, 
his gaze softened. 

"Come on," Matt whispered, grabbing her hand and dragging her back outside.
