My mother said "quit asking him"

"Does my back look different?" I asked y/n quietly, as she towel dried my hair and put in some leave-in conditioner.

She started braiding my hair gently and and sighed, "Would you like me to please a picture for you?"

I just nodded.

Y/n handed me her phone slowly and I couldn't breathe momentarily.

"How does it look that bad?" I croaked out, as my tears started to choke me.

"Is it okay if I give you a hug?" She whispered and knelt down in front of me, gently placing her hands over my own, which were shaking violently.

I just nodded.

And she tentatively wrapped her arms around my waist, resting her head on my thighs.

"I know it doesn't seem like it now, but the storm will always pass. And I know it's hard to understand right now, but the universe has placed us exactly where we need to be."

I looked down at her slowly, and she was looking back up at me, smiling softly. I couldn't help but smile back.

She reached up and wiped a stray tear from my cheek, as I gazed into her eyes. Only now was I realising how deep and captivating they were.

"You are gorgeous," she whispered, "and although you don't feel it now, I promise you that you are the most stunning person I've ever seen."

"Really?" I choked out and she nodded slightly.

"Now, let me finish braiding your hair, and we'll get you back to your room," she said and walked to the back of me, before gently braiding my hair again.

Once I was all done, we walked slowly back to my room, with the occasional stop to look at the sky from a dirty window.

"I want to leave," I sighed, as I laid back down on the bed. The exercise had made my back ache a lot.

"I'm sure you'll be let out soon," she said gently and sat next to me, pulling a book from her bag.

"Can you read to me please?" I whispered and she smiled, moving closer and opening the book, before she started reading to me.

I laid my head in her lap, and grazed my fingers over the pictures in the book. It was a blue hardback called "The Journey" and it was about a panda and a tiny dragon.

Y/n called a friend, who dropped off some more clothes and food for her, and then I went to bed.

"Please can you hold me again?" I asked quietly, thinking she might have been asleep already.

"Of course." And she turned over to wrap her arms around my waist.

With her face only mere inches from mine, I could fully see how gorgeous she was and I moved a little closer, so our noses were brushing slightly.

She leant up and kissed my temple, right over the cut, ever so softly, and closed her eyes.

"Goodnight, Wilhelmina."

"Goodnight."
