The Next Day

I opened my eyes and closed it back. I was enjoying the sleep and the dream. I dreamt that James came back, we confessed our unending love for each other and got married.

I woke up as my nose picked up a familiar scent but I thought nothing of it thinking about the dream I had. Stupid dream, I know.

I wish there was a way to contact him. I sat up and looked around my room when I couldn't get the scent out of my nose.

My eyes caught a figure reading a magazine on the only couch in my room. My eyes widened.

"Oh My God" I screamed. The person dropped the magazine in fright. Everyone came into my room in a hurry.

I moved closer hoping I wasn't seeing things.

"James" I whispered and hugged him. They all started laughing.

"You called him back" I said excitedly.

"No. You called him back" Dave said and they all walked out of my room smiling.

"I missed you so much. Living without you was very hard" I said

"Why did you cut me off?" I asked.

"Staying here wasn't helping. It didn't look like you would like me more that a friend and it was hurting. And then, Dave brought up the idea of staying away to get rid of my feelings. The two years I was away, my love for you wasn't reducing, instead it was increasing. Every single day, I missed you. And last night, Dave called me. I booked the next available flight to return" James said.

I fully understood what he meant.

"I'm sorry for hurting you all these years." I said.

"Its okay. It's worth it. Now I know that you love me" he said with a smile.

"Freshen up and come downstairs" James said.

He pecked my cheeks before leaving. I'm sooo happy right now.

I took my bath and went downstairs.

"I can't believe you guys are eating without me" I said with a fake frown as I sat.

"I was too hungry to wait" Dave said.

We were just four at the table. Mum, Dave, James and I.

"Where's dad?" I asked.

"He's filling in for David at the office" mum replied.

"I took today off too" I said.

"Why?" James asked.

"You just got back, I need to spend time with you" I replied.

"What? Are you being serious?" David asked.

"Yeah. You took the day off because of me?" James asked.

I understand what they are driving at. I never miss a day at work.

"Maybe I should just go" I said.

"Noooo" Dave and James said together. Mom and I laughed.

"Since you won't be going to work today. Let's go out. Just you and I" James said.

"No problem" I said smiling.
James and I spent the whole day together.

We went to a lot of places and ended it with a dinner in a nice restaurant where he eventually asked me to be his girlfriend and I agreed.

Time Skip.
It's Dave and Mira's wedding day.

"Stay still" I said to Mira for the tenth time as the hair stylist made her hair.

The lady couldn't complain. She was chatting with David and was laughing every minute.

I apologized on her behalf.

Suddenly, she gasped.

"Hurry up" she yelled at the stylist.

"You're the one who won't stay put so, why are you yelling?" I asked getting annoyed.

"Sorry" she apologized.

"But they've gotten to the church already" she said. I smiled.

"Chill. It's your wedding day. The ceremony can't start without you" I said.

Mira's mum came in looking beautiful in her peach dress.

"Oh my. My daughter is so beautiful" she said as Mira stood up.

"Thanks mum" she said and her mum pecked her cheeks.

"Lets go. We're late already" I said as we all left the room. I rode with Mira in her car as her chief bride's maid and thankfully there was no traffic.

David and Miranda were finally married.

James and I were dancing after the couple had their first dance.

"This would be us one day" James said and kissed me.

It's officially over.
