The Beginning Of The End

Mary and his brother Ben left their home that same night looking to escape the killers that killed their uncle, they moved to a place where Ben was living during his study in college, with them they had the evidence on project Alcatrez, so they created a list of all the people involved in the project, they were very intent on revenge, they studied everyone in the list, their life style, their families, their wealth, they even knew everyone's daily routine, it took a few years for them to accomplish the task, in the meantime Ben graduated from law school while Mary was still in college studying forensics, after she graduated she got a job back In the city where Raven labs was created, she saw it as perfect opportunity to get revenge and look for the question mark since most of their targets were living in that city, so this is where Mary and Ben parted ways, Mary went back to the city where Forty eight was created and Ben stayed behind, when she got there one of the first people she met was Lucy, she was the one who introduced her to everything and everyone around the station, and for her first case she got to work together with Claire, together they took down a cartel gang that was running rampage on the city for a long time.
As Henry was driving the car back to station that's when he started to put the pieces together, he remembered that they couldn't figure out what the numbers meant but for some reason Mary did, he also remembered the day he gave her the file he held by her shoulders so tight till she started bleeding, he realized that it was because he shot her they day before that, and also every time they were chasing the thief or the assasin for some reason Mary wasn't there, he kept thinking about  how Mary was able to fool them all for a really long time, they even captured her and she was in their custody, but she still managed to fool them and get out, he grew even more angrier everytime he thought about that, so he took out his phone and called Lucy, that's when he told them to go and look for Mary in her office and she wasn't their, they told him she left cause she has figured out who the Question mark was, so he had to tell them who Mary really is, Lucy was shocked on the other end of the phone because she was Mary's best friend, they shared almost each and everything, it was quite disappointing too to hear that her best friend is a prolific killer, and even she doesn't know about it,
"So here's what we're going to do" said Henry while they were still on the phone, "Claire I want you to grab a team and go to Mr. Hunt's house, I think that's where she'll be going, and Lucy I want you and everyone who is there to try and stop the protesters" continued Henry,
"What about you, what are going to do" Claire replied,
"Am going to go to Mary's house to try find her before she leaves" he replied and then hung up the phone.
Meanwhile Mary was already back at her house, she found a car parked outside but she didn't mind it cause she was in a hurry, and she also found a big box on her doorstep, she didn't mind the box too so she went in the house,
"Bhode there's a package outside is it yours" she said soon as she got inside, she then turned around to shut the door behind, when she turned around she saw Mr. Bhode held at gunpoint,
"Ben would you please let him go" she said with a frown face,
"You never told me you were fraternizing with the enemy" he replied with his gun still pointing at him,
"This is your brother" Mr. Bhode interrupted
"No, and yes" said Mary, "Bhode, Ben, Ben, Bhode" she added introducing with them each other, "and would you put that down" she said again this time talking to Ben,
"You told me he was dead, so why is he still alive" asked Ben so mad,
"Ok, here we go" she replied, it's like she expected this kind of conversation when his brother sees Mr. Bhode alive, "ok how about I tell you later right now, we have bigger fish to fry" she added and suddenly her face turned red, "I found the Question mark" she continued,
"Where is he" asked Ben,
"Let's suit up I'll tell on the way" she replied, they all together headed down to the basement where she was doing most of her investigations, the basement was full of weapons and computers,
"You have a bat cave under your house" said Ben soon as they entered the basement,
"That's what I said" interrupted Mr. Bhode,
"Ok, Am starting to like you, but that doesn't mean we're friends, I still want you dead" replied Ben,
"Make your pick" said Mary while pointing at the two Marshmello helmets and leather jackets on the table,
"I'll take the black one" he replied with a little smirk on his face.
After a fifteen minutes drive Henry reached at Mary's house, he knocked on the door twice but there was no response, so he picked the lock on the door and went inside, he looked around the house and there was no one inside, he looked at the way things were left inside the house and he realized that there was more than one person living inside the house, he kept searching through the house for more clues till he stumbled upon the door that leads to the basement downstairs, he opened the door and went down to the basement, there was a man sitting on the computer working on something, he slowly sneaked up behind the man and put a gun behind his neck, "don't move" said Henry, "I want you slowly move away from the computer and stand up with your hands in the air" he continued, the man did exactly as what Henry said, he was a little bit shaking and Henry could see it from his raised hands, "now slowly turn around" said Henry, the man slowly turned around still shaking, Henry was so shocked to see who the man was, he kept glaring at him with no words coming out of his mouth, "Bhode" said Henry so surprised with what he was seeing "you're supposed to be dead" he added while slowly lowering his gun,
"Its quite a long story actually" Bhode replied,
"Mary faked your death" asked Henry, he was still confused with the situation he's just in,
"Ok, may be it is a short story" replied Bhode,
"Spill it" said Henry, his gun still on Bhode's head.
That night of the grand opening of the gallery, when Mr. Bhode and his secretary got home, with a new bought art piece that was suggested by a mysterious woman in a red dress, they entered inside Mr. Bhode's home office and Mr. Bhode went to the left side of his office to hang the the piece on the wall, and that's when his secretary got shot, hearing the gunfire Mr. Bhode turned around only to find a woman in a black Marshmello helmet sitting in his office chair aiming a gun at him, "give me ten good reasons why I should let you live" said the woman, Mr.  Bhode wasn't scared at all, he was standing there looking very confident
"am dead either way, so just get on with it" he replied,
"Well that's not a reason to live" she replied, she then put the gun on the table,
"are you familiar with word Alcatrez Mr. Bhode", continued the woman, and the leaned her back on the chair, after hearing the word Alcatrez Mr. Bhode flinched a little shocked as to how the woman knows the deceased project, "wow, that's quite funny, you're not afraid of gun but you're scared of a single word" replied the woman after seeing him flinch, she then crossed her feet on top the table,
"Trust me, whatever you are doing, is going to get you killed" replied Mr. Bhode,
"But Am about to kill you aren't I, now, could you please tell me where I can find....., the you know who" said the woman,
"You don't, he finds you" replied Mr. Bhode,
"So am looking for he, we are making progress" the woman replied quickly,
"He told to me fund his project and if I don't, bad things would happen"
"Oh let me guess, he killed the people close to you to prove a point, I know that story" replied the woman, "just like how I know you're looking for him" she added the woman while waving Mr. Bhode's phone in the air, "all I want to know is how to find him"
"I've been monitoring his moves for over a year and I still haven't found him yet" he replied,
"But you can"asked the woman,
"I'll be dead even before I get to show you his face" replied Mr. Bhode,
"but What if you are already dead" the woman asked again,
"What do you mean" asked Mr. Bhode,
"Oh my god, I feel like am teaching calculus to kindergarten, I mean fake you're death" she replied
"So what's plan" asked Mr. Bhode,
"Use the back door to get out of the house, I'll run a distraction to your guards, there will be a green car outside, drive it to the front gate you'll meet me there" said the woman giving instructions to Mr. Bhode, she then stood up and left the office.
"And that is the story of how am still alive" said Mr. Bhode after telling Henry the story,
"And she was the one who I.D.ed your body after the fire, that's how she made it look like you were dead" said Henry realising what Mary had just done to fake Mr. Bhode's death.
Meanwhile Mary and Ben were arriving at Mr. Hunt's mansion on their motorcycles, they were wearing the Marshmello helmets to hide their faces, Mary was riding a white motorcycle and Ben was on a black motorcycle, when  they got close to the mansion they could see the guards at the front gate from a far and they were holding heavy guns, as they kept riding their motorcycles Mary took out a small gun from her waist with one hand still controlling the motorcycle, she then shot the guards at the front gate, meanwhile Ben also took his gun and shot at left side of the gate destroying the button that opens the gate, and suddenly the gate opened automatically, they entered the mansion in a high speed and suddenly hit the brakes to stop after entering through the gate, they were already inside the compound of the mansion, they got off their motorcycle and gave each other a head node, before they could start going inside, suddenly the door to the mansion was opened and a lot of guards holding electric batons came out running, in a few seconds the guards had them completely surrounded from everywhere, they turned around looking for an opening run away but there wasn't any, the guards had completely covered every angle, they leaned on each other's backs to protect each other from behind,
"So what's the plan, munchkin" asked Ben,
"To stop calling me munchkin, and fight" she replied, one of the guard jumped to hit her with his baton, she heavily punched him to the ground and all the other guards started attacking them all at once, they fought back and they were stronger, they took out a lot of guards with their bear hands, and after sometime Mary picked up one of the guards batons and used it fight against them, even though they were a lot of guards but the siblings stood tall and managed to fight every single one of them, in about five minutes time the only ones standing were the siblings in their Marshmello helmets, all the guards were lying on the ground either dead, lost consciousness, part of their body was broken or all of the above, after they were done with fighting the guards they went inside the mansion, they expected to find the Question mark inside but they were surprised to see the living room empty, they slowly walked through the living room looking to see if he was hiding but they couldn't find him, the mansion was too big so they went separate ways to find the Question mark, Mary took the stairs that led her up to the roof, when she got there she found him standing at the edge of the roof looking at great view of the city, the weather was starting to change, dark clouds were forming up and it looked like it was going to rain, after an awful long search downstairs Ben decided to join her sister upstairs, he also ended up on the roof where he found her sister just standing there looking at the Question mark, "what has he been doing" asked Ben,
"Mostly just standing" she replied Mary, the question mark was facing away from them so they could only see him from his back,
"what a great day it is don't you think" said the Question mark, they took a few steps forward towards him and then stopped,
"You can smell the rain about to fall, clouds swirling up in the dark skies, it's beautiful" he continued, Mary took off her helmet and lowered it to the ground,
"You remember me" she said, he slowly turned around to face her, Ben was also taking off his Marshmello helmet, "of course you don't, but let me remind you" she continued, she then rolled up her jacket sleeves for him to see the tattoo below the palm of left hand, he gave a look at her hand from where he was and saw the number forty eight,
"Uh yes, Forty eight, you look nothing like I expected, for the past eighteen years I've been looking for you" he replied, his voice was very comfortable for he wasn't afraid of anything,
"and in the end, the universe brought you back to me" he added,
"You sent people to kill my mom, and that wasn't enough you sent people to kill uncle Ed.......,
"I promised, you'll die for that" Ben interrupted
"That's where you are wrong, I never sent anyone, i killed them myself, and I was hoping I would see you, but I guess you did a good job hiding" replied the question mark,
"Yep, we are all kinds of stubborn" Ben interrupted and a loud thunder was heard from a distance, little rain drops started falling from the sky, the Question mark raised his head to look at the sky,
"As I said it's beautiful day" he said,
"For an horrible death" Mary finished while clenching her fists tightly and running angrily towards him, she threw two punches towards him but he managed to get away, before he even got a chance to rest Ben show up with a heavy punch on his face, but with left hand he blocked it and returned with a heavy blow on Ben's chest, he turned to the right and saw Mary coming with a heavy blow but he quickly pounded her with his elbow on the face before the punch could reach him, Mr hunt had very fast reflexes more than all of them, because every time they went land a blow on him he managed to evade it and punch them back, it was almost like he could see their every move before they could even make it, they fought him for several minutes and still none of them was able not only to punch him yet along even touch him, every time they went to attack him they ended taking hit to the ground, and for few seconds they had to stop and catch their breath, Mary was heavily breathing like a hound who had just seen their prey, blood running down from her nose, her face was very bruised from the punches she just had from Mr. Hunt, Ben had a little bruise on the right corner of his mouth, blood was also dripping from his left eyebrow and he had red nose, they were both very injured and they were loosing badly, rain was still falling from the sky and they were all soaked and wet with rain water
"Did you see his eyes" asked Mary while cleaning the blood off her nose,
"I know, they turn orange everytime we try to fight him" he replied,
"He's fast, faster than me" said Mary, "he's enhanced" she continued Mary while looking at Ben,
"Ok I never thought I'd say this but, we need a plan" said Ben, meanwhile Mr. Hunt was getting ready to fight them for the second time,
"Hey do you remember ninja turtles" asked Mary,
"Yeah, why" asked Ben "oh don't tell me we're playing back back " said Ben realising Mary's plan, his eyes brows wrinkled inside his face, Mary replied with a head node her head tilted a little towards him,
"really that's you're plan" shouted Ben,
"If you have a better one, am all ears" replied Mary,
"Back back it is" Ben,
"So do you want to start or should I" said Mary while looking at him,
"No, I got this" Ben replied, he then took a deep breath and started running towards Mr. Hunt, Mary was right behind him as he charged towards the Question mark, when he reached three feet from him he jumped in the air only to land to ground with a heavy punch on Mr. Hunt's head, Mr. Hunt crossed his hands over his head and blocked the punch, the punch was quite heavy that Mr. Hunt moved a few steps back, Ben landed to ground on one knee and soon as he did he bowed to the ground giving a chance for Mary to jump over him, when Mary reached a few feet from Ben she jumped landing on Ben's back with her right foot, and Ben stood up slowly from the ground giving her a boost to jump even high up, she did a perfect acrobat move in the air and landed with a heavy kick on Mr. Hunt's chest, the kick was too strong that it took Mr. Hunt flying over the edge of the rooftop, luckily he was able to pull out his hand and hang to a metal pole that was attached to the edge of the rooftop, he pulled himself up till he got back to the rooftop, he then quickly did a back flip jumping over their heads, as he was in the air the siblings raised their heads to look at him in the air and together they saw a small hole at the back of his neck, the hole was shaped like the side of sim card, Mr. Hunt managed to land on his feet
"Did you see at the back of his neck" said Mary soon as he landed,
"Yeah, yeah I did" he replied,
"So we go for the neck right" said Mary while looking at Ben,
"We go for neck" replied Ben in a whisper voice and nodded his head, Mary quickly charged towards Mr. Hunt in a rage her fist tightly closed, jaws clenched, chin up and eyes laser focused on Mr. Hunt's neck, she a threw a punch aiming at his neck but he caught her fist before it could reach him, he then broke her hand and on top of that, he hit a strong blow on her face she fell hard to the ground, he was going to step on her face but luckily Ben was quick enough to stop him by hitting his foot before it reached her face, he then added another kick on his chest, that kick pushed him a little further away from them,  Ben held out his hand and helped Mary to get up,
"You good" asked Ben,
"Am good, I've got one last idea" said Mary, "remember when we learned ballet" added Mary, Ben smiled a little soon as heard her say that, Ben turned around charging in a high speed towards Mr. Hunt, Mary was behind him slowly running because of her injury, Ben jumped high up with a heavy kick on his head, he moved a little further behind escaping Ben's kick, Ben landed on the ground and turned around giving Mary his hand, she quickly grabbed it and he carried her in the air by her waist, she strongly hit him on the neck till he went flying in the air down to the ground, as he was falling to the ground a small chip came out flying from hole behind his neck, the siblings slowly moved closer to him to make sure if he was really dead, they saw him lying down on the ground his eyes wide open, but he was still breathing even though he wasn't able to move at all, Ben looked Mr. Hunt's head and saw the chip,  so he went over and picked it up,
"I think this is what made him walk" said Ben holding the thingy in the air showing it to Mary,
"So we've been fighting an artificial intelligence, this whole time" said Mary,
"Something is not right" said Mary with a suspicious look on her face,
"What do you mean" asked Ben being so confused,
"It was too easy" she replied,
"What, you wanted more than this" Ben replied, "munchkin you have broken arm, a bloody nose, and a goofy eye to prove this wasn't easy" continued Ben, "I too have broken nose......,
"No I don't mean the fight" Mary Interrupted, "I mean how I found out that he's the Question mark" she added, "it's almost like he wanted to be caught" added Mary,
"Ok now you're just being paranoid" Ben replied, he then threw the motherboard thingy at her and she caught,
"Think about it, he never gets caught unless he really wants to get caught" Mary replied,
"Well we caught him, he's on the floor and he can't move, so I suggest we kill him before he gets a chance to kill us" Ben replied,
"Fine....."
"Is that fear I sense in you Forty eight" a voice asked the question interrupting Mary's talk, they were both shocked that Mr. Hunt was still able to speak, his eyes had changed colour to orange, the voice was deep just like the one she heard at the station, the voice was coming out of Mr. Hunt's mouth, it looked like it he was not in control of his body cause his mouth was wide open but it wasn't moving to make any words, it was almost like there was a speaker inside his mouth,
"You're right to be scared, it means you'll be careful with every move you make" continued the voice, "sometimes this world feels like a game of chess, and we're the pieces waiting to make our move" said the voice,
"And let me guess, you're the king" Mary replied,
"No, am the bishop, and you just killed my pawn" replied the voice, "and you have no idea what am about to do to you, and your annoying little friends" continued the voice, "you've already lost Forty eight, now I just want to watch as this city falls to ashes, all of your friends will die, and it will be all because of you" added the voice, soon as the voice said that,  Mr. Hunt's eyes turned green and there was a beeping sound coming out of his mouth, Mary looked down at Mr. Hunt's hand, he was wearing a wrist watch and it was counting,
"Ben it's bomb, we got five minutes" shouted Mary in a panick after seeing the wrist watch,
"What's the bomb" asked Ben,
"His body is the bomb, we need to go" screamed Mary, before they could start leaving police sirens were heard at entrance of the mansion,
Claire and her crew of police officers were arriving, they were there to arrest Mary Allen, they saw a lot of distruction just outside the mansion, they were already inside the compound looking at the massive amount of people just laying down on the ground hurt, all that was in Claire's was mind  is that how could Mary possibly do all this, she crouched to the ground and checked one body for a pulse,
"I don't think they are dead, call an ambulance, we gonna need a lot of ambulances" she said, "the rest of  you check around the house and see if you can find her" she continued as she got off the ground, "once you see her radio me first, do not engage, I repeat do not engage" she said, she remained at the compound waiting for the ambulances to arrive, meanwhile Ben and Mary had already fled the scene and they were on they way home, the rain had already passed but the city was still covered with dark skies
"Hey wait" said Ben, and stopped his motorcycle, he then pulled out Mr. Hunt's wrist watch from his pocket,
"Hey why are we stopping" asked Mary who stopped her motorcycle, she took a look at Ben's arm and she saw him holding Mr. Hunt's watch,
"You took that" she asked,
"Yeah, it cool alright" said Ben, "now listen"
"he said that he was going to kill you and your friends right" asked Ben,
"Look if you're worried about me please don't I.......,
"No, it's not you am worried about" Ben interrupted her, "it's your friends, we just evaded a bomb that was supposed to kill you, what about them" he added, his face was so pale cause he was very concerned, soon as Mary heard her brother's theory her face turned red, the look in her eyes were filled with rage, confusion, and frustration, she was already panicking and heart was heavily pounding,
"What time do we have" asked Mary,
"A minute and a half" Ben replied,
"I need to borrow your phone" she said, Ben took out his phone and gave it to her, she turned on her bike and rode away, she drove too fast heading to the station hoping to save her friends cause that's where she left them, the strong wind blew her hair to the back of her neck, a little tear drops were dripping down from her eyes cause she was worried that she would loose all of her friends, just the thought of that made her increase the speed to her motorcycle even more, as she kept driving she was trying to reach Lucy's phone, but Lucy was too busy trying to stop the protesters in front of the station to pick up her phone, Mary then remembered that she saw a weird package In front of her house and thought it was delivered to them by mistake, she figured that, that must have been the bomb prepared for her,
"Bhode" she called out his name in a worry, she went ahead and called him, Bhode was still held at gunpoint by Henry when the phone went ringing,
"Pick it up, and put it on speaker" said Henry, he answered the phone and put it on speaker,
"Bhode get out of their the house is going to explode" said Mary soon as he answered the phone,
"What!" he replied in a shock,
"Just trust me and get out, now" she screamed at the phone, in the meantime Lucy took out his phone and saw a missed call from an unknown number, she got away from the noise of an angry crowd so as she could talk, she called the number but the line was busy cause Mary was on the phone with Mr. Bhode, she hung up the phone and started walking back to go and deal with the protesters,
So Lucy was on her way back to stop the protesters that were in front  of the station, Claire was outside mansion waiting for the ambulances to show up, Bhode and Henry were struggling to get out of the house before it explodes, and Mary was all in the middle of the three locations with only a few seconds left, there was no way she was going to save any of them, time was up and the bombs went off at all those places simultaneously, a loud explosions was heard allover the city, Mary was shocked a little bit soon as she heard the explosion, in solitude she closed her eyes tear drops falling out her eyes running down her chicks, she was still riding to the station on her motorcycle,
Claire was on the phone trying to reach Henry when the explosion happened, she was outside the mansion so the explosion didn't affect her at all, but she had a rough experience of watching her crew dying in front of her as mansion exploded falling down to the ground, she was so shocked with her mouth wide opened as the mansion was falling down to the ground,
Mr. Bhode and Henry barely made it outside before the bomb exploded, they were a few steps away from the house when the bomb went off, so the explosion sent them flying up in the air landing down on their faces to the ground, they were a little bit hurt due to the terrible landing they had because of the explosion, but none of them suffered permanent damage,
After a two minute ride Mary arrived at the station, or in this case where there used to be a station because all she could find was dust and smoke, the whole building had fallen to the ground, most of the protesters were hurt and some of them were dead, but all she cared about was finding Lucy, she tried looking for her through the dusty smoke but couldn't find her, she started calling out her name out loud in a panic she was also breathing too fast so worried that she might have lost her best friend, after searching for a whole minute she saw Lucy laying down on the ground, she was covered by two giant boulders that used to be part of the building that had fallen, she quickly ran towards her and pushed away the boulders, she pulled her away from the boulders to a safe place, she kneeled on the ground and had Lucy's head laying on her laps,
"Come on come on come on Lucy please don't be dead" said Mary as she held on the cheeks, "Lucy wake up for me, please, am right here"she continued the pitch to her voice was getting higher and higher each time cause she was about to cry, "Lucy please" added Mary tears falling out of her eyes, she couldn't hold in the cry anymore, she had to let it all out, she screamed out her name while crying and begging for her to wake up, the rescue teams and fire fighters were arriving the area with ambulances to rescue injured people and take them to the hospital, it was a very busy day for them cause there were three different places affected by the bombings, two of the rescuers came towards Mary holding a stretcher, they took Lucy off her arms and put her in the stretcher, she walked beside them holding her hand as they took her away to the ambulance, she couldn't let her self go inside the ambulance so she just watched as they shut the door Infront of her face, she stood at the middle of the road watching the ambulance go away with Lucy inside, she then wiped out her tears and then walked back to her motorcycle and left, she rode her motorcycle down to the cemetery of the city and got off, she walked through the midst of graves till she reached at Dr. Bennard's grave, her grave had a headstone that was engraved with the words, "here lies Dr. Astrid Bennard born 1974 died 2001", she fell down to her knees in front  of the grave and started crying, she was still frustrated that she might be the reason that her friend Lucy is dead,
"Hey Mom" she said with tears running down her chicks, "it's me again, I've had a really terrible long day, I just......, I just wish it would all end" she added, she then wiped a little bit of her tears "all of my friends just died because of me, and for the first time, in my entire life, I have no idea what do" she continued, "am lost mom, I don't think I'll be able to find my way back" she added,
"My heart, is shattered, and the pieces are so small to put back together, sometimes I wish you were to tell me, that everything will be ok" continued Mary, after a few minutes of emotional talk and drowning in her sorrows she realising there were flowers at the grave, and they looked fresh, they looked like they were brought to the grave a few days ago, she stood up on her feet and started looking around the graveyard, suddenly the phone she was carrying started vibrating inside her pocket, she reached inside her pocket and pulled it out, the phone displayed a number four that was inside a circle, she was a little bit shocked cause it was similar to how the Question mark contacts their target, she tapped the screen on her phone and put in on her ear,
"Who is this" asked Mary,
"I am number four" said the person at the end of the phone,
"and I know how to find him", added the anonymous caller,
"but I have job for you" continued the caller,
"so what do you say" asked the caller,
"What's the job" Mary replied.
