I awoke drowsily in an unfamiliar place. It took a few seconds for me to fully open my eyes and to recognize where I was. The hospital. With nurses coming in to check on me for a few minutes, taking notes and then leaving the room once again.
"It's a miracle you survived you know." A young nurse had said politely. Her long red hair tied up into a ponytail.
"Thanks... I guess..." Rubbing my eyes I looked to the left of me. There was an empty chair where visitors could sit.
"I-is Luke here?" I asked then wondering if she even would know who I'm talking about.
"Yes, he's just outside. Would you like me to get him?" She smiled at me and I nodded. She walked outside into the hallway, her hair bobbing up and down every step she took.
She seemed so happy, especially for a nurse. It was kind of un-comforting.
"KAT!" Luke shouted excitedly while running towards my bedside and hugging me tightly.
"LUKE!!" I hugged him back and apologized about five million times. He most likely thought I was apologizing for almost dying... But the true reasons were: One, I tried to die without telling anyone. And two, I wasn't going to tell him I actually did die, talked to dead people and then woke up in the hospital. However, neither of us will ever forget that bridge. In fact, we would forever know that bridge as The Bridge to Heaven and Back.
