"You have got to be fucking kidding me!" Owen said in complete frustration
"Nah, last time I checked, death wasn't on the map or the agenda for today" Neo said
"Yeah no, there has to be another way, maybe we got lost" May said
"There is no other way! See?!" Owen snapped as he showed her the map
"Well there is no way we're going to die trying to retrieve a box!" May snapped back
"All of you shut up and let Ari think!" Jason barked at them
Suddenly, all eyes were on me and I had zero idea on what to do about this situation. They all made good points, nobody said anything about Jaguars, we weren't lost because the map was made recently, and we definitely weren't going to die getting a fucking box.
I looked at the map, then at the Jaguars, and then I noticed Neo's backpack. A light bulb went off in my head as I got an idea and smiled.
"What is it Ari?" Jason asked me
"Neo we need your rope gun" I said
About twenty minutes later, we had finished making our makeshift fishing rod out of leaves, sticks, rocks, and tied a large piece of meat on it with the rope from Neo's gun.
The plan was simple, May and Neo would climb onto one of the trees with the fishing rod using the meat as bait for some Jaguars, Owen would dig a hole and put more pieces of meat for the other ones, and me and Jason would sneak up behind them and grab the box. Easy right? Yeah no.
At first everything was going as planned. The Jaguars smelled the meat and half of them tried to eat the meat from the fishing rod, and the other half ate the meat that Owen had dumped into the hole he made while Neo and May had been climbing up the tree.
Me and Jason snuck up behind the distracted predators and I grabbed the box, handing it to him. We almost made it when one of the Jaguars that looked like the leader, turned around and spotted us. We froze as it growled alerting the whole pack of hungry predators. Jason instantly pulled me behind him and brought out his hand knife, pointing it at the pack of Jaguars.
"Guys run!" May yelled over the comms
"No they can't! They won't be fast enough!" Owen yelled back
"Look just stay there we'll come and-"
"NO! Don't move from that spot! That's an order" I said cutting Neo off
My team watched as the Jaguars closed in on us, trapping us between them and the stone wall behind us.
"Whatever happens just stay behind me" Jason said
I nodded but then, I got this feeling. I looked straight into the eyes of the leading Jaguar, and for that moment, I saw into his soul and I realized that it reflected my own. Then I heard a voice in my head.
"Please, don't hurt them" it begged
"Who said that?! And how are you doing this?!" I said
"My name is Natukaiya and I am just trying to protect my family" it said
"Wait- are you-"
"Yes, I am the Jaguar you see before you" he said
How is this even possible?! I'm human!" I said
"I promise to explain everything later my young prince, but for now, please call your future mate off" Natu said
I felt my cheeks heat up in a blush, future mate?! Prince?! What the hell is happening?! My head was spinning with so many different questions, but none of that mattered. I had to stop Jason before he hurt one of Natu's pack members or even worse, hurt himself.
So I shook my head, wafting away all the questions and thoughts I had for the moment, slowly walked over to Jason who still held the knife, and put my hand over his, lowering the weapon.
"Aryln, what are you doing?!" He whisper-shouted at me
"Trust me" I whispered back
He looked me straight in the eyes, they held fear, confusion, strength, and something else but he nodded. Slowly lowering the knife while keeping a firm hand on it.
The Jaguars looked at me cautiously, but they had stopped growling. I slowly approached Natu and held my hand out. He growled softly and licked it, I sighed in relief as he sat down and I pet his head gently, the same way I did with Haruki. Jason, the Jaguars, and my team all watched as I pet the male leader's head.
"Thank you young prince" Natu said
"Um, your welcome, but you have a LOT to explain" I said
"Yes, all will be revealed to you your majesty" Natu said
Then, he gently moved from my hold and bowed his head at me. The other Jaguars watched and did the same. I stood there frozen all the Jaguars bowed to me. May, Owen, Neo, and Jason looked at me with shocked faces and open mouths. I knew I was going to have alot of explaining to do. But holy shit-
I was not ready for what I discovered next.
