Chapter nine: Winners

Me and Haruki waited anxiously as the commander looked through the papers at the podium.

I was so nervous I could've passed out right then and there. Finally, the commander looked back at us and the crowd and tapped on the microphone.

"Attention Firebend Academy! We have the results of the race!" He said

Aiden looked at me with a smirk while his arms were crossed.

"Have fun being a loser Aryln" he laughed

Haruki snorted at him but I just ignored him as the commander started announcing the winners.

"In 3rd place we have, the bird squad!"

Aiden still smirked boldly as the bird squad cheered loudly.

"In second place we have, the frog squad!"

I held onto Harkui's reins tightly as my heart beat out of my chest. I breathed heavily as he announced the first place winner.

"And in first place, we have- Arlyn and Haruki for the Wolf squad! Congratulations!"

"Holy shit Haruki- we actually won!" I exclaimed as Haruki Neighed happily

Aidens jaw dropped as his eyes buldged out of his head, the once bold smirk he had was completely gone, and I gotta admit he looked fucking hilarious like that.

Just then all of my teammates came rushing over to me and Haruki, including Jason who had the biggest smirk on his face ever.

"I knew you could do it! You guys were badass!" May cheered

"Go Aryln and Haruki!" Neo shouted

"We actually won, oh my God guys!" Owen shouted

I got down from Haruki and instantly got crushed in a hug by a very happy May and Neo. Owen gave me a fist bump, and Jason just stood there smirking at me.

"What?" I asked him

Then, he lifted me up by my waist and put me on his shoulders.

"Jason what the hell?! Put me down!" I said laughing

"No way cherry bomb! Your a winner!" He said

I laughed and waved at all the people who surrounded us. They cheered and congratulated me and Haruki. Jason walked with me and his shoulders along with my team and Haruki, all the way up to the stage, where he then put me down in front of the commander who shook my hand handing me a sparkling golden trophy.

"Congratulations kid! You earned this" he said

I looked at the trophy before handing it to my teammates who looked at me confused.

"Thanks, but I couldn't have done it without my family and of course, Haruki" I said petting him on his head

The commander smiled and nodded at me before turning to the crowd of cheering people. He cleared his throat and tapped on the microphone.

"Give it up for Arlyn and his team everyone!" He shouted into the microphone

The crowd went wild once again and my teammates all crushed me into a hug. Even Haruki put his head on mine. I smiled brightly at them and we waved to the crowd of people in front of us.

"All right let's go party!" May exclaimed as she jumped off the stage

Neo, and Owen followed her as she motioned for us to come with her.
I looked at Haruki and pet him one last time as he snorted at me.

"Don't worry I'll be back for you later boy, you did great today" I said before kissing him on the nose, and giving the reins to the commander

Then, I looked at Jason who flashed me a grin as we both jumped off the stage and waved one last time to all the people who cheered for us. We all went to the dorm building to change, and then we headed down to the beach to go celebrate our win.
