Chapter 7

Canis looked to the left of her when she felt the branch she was sitting on strain slightly under sudden new weight. Pavo flashed his eldest sister a fanged grin as he stayed crouched on the branch, Lyra landing beside Lupus on the branch above them.

"So, they mate yet? Pops' been getting worried with how long it's taking. It's been 2 moon cycles, you know." He questioned, Canis letting out a low growl as she shook her head.

"No. Humans seem to have different courtship methods." Canis grumbled, Lyra's gaze focused on the cabin. The third-eldest watching through a window as Marley was snuggled up against a blonde human's side, the human reading a book as her baby sister nuzzled at the blonde's neck.

"Marley's at her wits end. The human's oblivious." Lupus sighed, placing her chin in her hand as she slouched forward. Lyra let out a low hum as she crossed her arm against her chest, Pavo looking at his sisters and then to the cabin. He rolled his bare shoulders back, Canis looking to him when the branch began to sway with his light bouncing.

"What're you doing?" She questioned, Pavo cracking his neck side to side.

"Wingmanning." He answered before leaping off the branch, a startled yelp leaving Canis as she wrapped a hand around Lyra and Lupus's branch just as her's broke and fell to the ground. A low puff of air left her as she watched Pavo land silently atop of the cabin's roof, Lupus reaching out to pull her up.

"Ass." Canis tsked, the three eldest siblings watching as Pavo leaned his upper body over the roof's edge and tapped a claw against one of the window's glass.

"Jace." Marley whined softly, Jace letting out a soft hum as she turned her book's page. The redhead pouted, her lips resting against the scarred skin of Jace's neck as the human continued reading.

"Marley." Jace murmured in return, the wolf's pout seeming to intensify as she glared at the book that the human's eyes never strayed from.

Two whole moon cycles, 'Months' is what Jace calls them, and she's gotten nowhere. A low grumble vibrated in her throat as she debated whether or not to pry the book out of Jace's hand and hurl it through a window.

Her eyes narrowed as she made up her mind, her hand about to reach for the damn book when a light tapping made her ears twitch. Her brow furrowed as she turned towards the noise, her eyes widening in surprise at the sight of her only brother before they narrowed on his grinning upside-down face.

"What was that?" Jace questioned, her eyes going from the book towards the noise when Marley held her face with her left hand. The human's cheeks were lightly mushed as Marley connected their gazes together, Jace not seeing as she used her right hand to motion Pavo to hide.

The male werewolf quickly pulling his upper body back onto the roof.

"Just a pest." Marley chuckled weakly, nuzzling her nose against Jace's for a moment before rising up and off the couch. One of the blonde's brows arched curiously as she watched the werewolf.

"I'll get rid of it." Marley hummed with a grin, it quickly slipping off and turning into a sneer when the redhead turned around and stalked towards the cabin's back door. She quickly went past through the door, closing it behind her and tilted her head back.

The wind blew softly around the two siblings as they stared at each other, a couple strands of red hair falling in front of Marley's eyes as Pavo gave her a crooked grin.

"Fancy seein' you here, baby sis."

"Leave. Now." Marley growled up at him, Pavo laying on his belly on top of the roof's tiles and rested his hand under his chin as he grinned down at his baby sister. His feet lazily swayed in the air, Marley letting out another growl at him.
