The morning after Toman's meeting, you woke up early, something you haven't done in a while. After learning which exact storage company your key belonged to, there was no hiding your eagerness.

You left your phone at home in case anyone tried to reach you. Today is something you can't have disturbed, even if what's in storage turns out to be a complete disappointment. You can't be rushed either, not with the crashing waves of nerves running down your body.

Presently, you stand directly in front of the lot. It was an unexpectedly long ride in an area you swear you've never been, but something in you argued otherwise the second you parked your bike out front. It felt nauseating to look at the rows of storage units, as though you are not meant to be there. However, if that were the case, the key around your neck wouldn't have found its way in your care.

There's a sign in front of the open gate leading into the lot, 'CLEAR OUT before December 25th!' It explains why so many people are there, but not why they have to move their stuff. Not that it matters to you, some of the stuff is probably going to be junk anyways.

You look down at the key resting against your chest. '019'. It's a low number, likely meaning the unit shouldn't be too far.

With that information, you exhale a deep breath and walk past the steel fence. The gravel crunches beneath your feet, filling in for the quiet sky. Being up so early in the morning has granted you a new perspective of the world, how calming it feels to be out and about right after the sun has risen.

The aisles are wide, parked with cars people load their belongings in. Light chatter is shared between them, the sound of moving furniture and boxes strikingly comforting. It's also different from your typical day that's usually filled with violence and chaos. It's refreshing, almost.

At the end of each component is a sign that marks which units are in that aisle. Each amount was quite high, as expected with how large the lot is. It takes only a few minutes until you come across one that says, 'Units 11 - 20'.

The first one is unit eleven, meaning you have to walk all the way down to reach the one you're searching for. The area is also crowded, people left and right moving all around as you walk down the middle path.

It's still November and they're acting as if tomorrow is the deadline. Maybe you just lack the understanding of getting things done early, but this was a bit too much. No reason they should be panicking like an evacuation has been ordered.

It's not long until you come face to face with storage unit 019, the assigned number on a small plaque in the direct middle of the door.

It's strange. You don't recognize the path you walked, or the entrance to the lot. However, something about this exact spot you're standing in feels oddly familiar. Unfortunately you can't pin the reason why, but maybe what's inside will help.
