Lappland had been reflecting on the events that had led up to her current predicament, her joining of Rhodes Island, meeting a lot of the different people there, and the overall end goal of Rhodes Island. Curing Oripathy, a task previously thought impossible to complete in the past but in the present, it was a goal that now actually seemed feasible. The thought brought her gaze down to the blackened crystals that had been slowly but surely overtaking her body for quite some time now. She had accepted her fate as a dead woman walking, or that was until she became a part of Rhodes Island.

The treatment she had received hadn't cured her of the infection, but it had stopped it from progressing further. If she listened to the various medical personnel on limiting the use of her Arts that is. Which was something she didn't do most of the time, much to the ire of the various medics on base. This wasn't the only problem she was currently facing though, the other one was a much more internal matter or more specifically a mental one, a problem not helped by her infected status.

Lappland's gaze turned behind her briefly, observing her surroundings before finally landing on the male Archosaurian napping peacefully on her back. At this point, she had been carrying him for nearly 45 minutes. Her body had started to ache at this point, but it was something she could manage regardless.

Her thoughts soon turned to the individual who lay in a state of bliss on her back, instead of grimly reflecting on herself. She hadn't had the privilege of talking to the aforementioned individual much. Only passing conversations during operations and their time back at base. Yet despite that, the two seemed to get along reasonably well, or at least that's what she had observed during their time together.

Both were able to converse quite easily much to her surprise. Although that being said it did take some coercing from her to get the Archosaurian male to even talk some.

She knew very little of him, but she supposed that was quite normal in their line of work, most operators kept their past and origins to themselves. She was no exception to this unspoken rule. A scant few operators knew each other outside of their time at Rhodes Island.

From her conversation with him today she found him to be exactly as others described him. Typically, calm and collected with the preference to seclude himself from others for reasons as of yet unknown. With some exceptions to this behavior such as his interactions with his surrogate sister Gavial.

But what interested her the most about his behavior was his attitude towards her. Or more accurately the absence thereof, most individuals she would attempt to talk to would avoid her like the plague.

She was aware of the reasoning why they acted the way they did, she knew that at the best of times she was quite eccentric. And at the worst of times, she could be seen as clinically insane. It was this last part that most people thought of when they thought of her.

Khamul seemed to be unique in this aspect as he was yet another of the people she could count on two hands who didn't immediately make up an excuse to vacate her general vicinity with all due haste. Gavial was another one of these individuals as she was the one who had done her medical examination. Although she at the start fell into that first group, she eventually got used to her behavior after a great many weeks of her shenanigans.

Finally, the last two that came to mind were both the Doctors, Doctor Kal'tsit, and the tactical advisor to Rhodes Island who simply went by 'Doctor.'

And it was for this reason that she had taken a moderate interest in Khamul. Most of the information she had gotten regarding the grey-haired male was from Kal'tsit and Gavial. The latter typically questioned Lappland whenever she brought up Gavial's 'brother.' She always found it quite humorous when this happened as it was abundantly clear that Gavial was very fond of her 'brother.'
