I saw Mario, Pit, and Mega Man fly through the portal, as expected. Then I saw Marth... and he had brought somebody. We were at our base, deep in the Gaur Plain in Shulk's world. The base was constructed so it looked like a village form the outside. You stepped next to the door and it would scan you. Then the door would open and you'd go down the stairs to the base. The base itself was huge- it has a cafeteria, bunks, and a radar/supercomputer that tells us where the Dark Legion was attacking.

"Who is this?" I asked Marth, my sword ready.

"Meta Knight, this is Snake. He's a hero and an essential part of our team." Marth said.

"Uh...just-a asking....what was that-a place?" Mario asked me, and I was stunned. I opened my mouth to speak, but Snake interrupted me.

"That hellish dimension was Brinstar, and believe me, you don't want to be stuck there alone." He said, shuddering.

"Mario...how do you not remember?" I asked. He shrugged.

"I must-a hit my head." Mario suggested. I knew he was being honest, but I was lost in my own head, pondering. How could he have forgotten? I wondered.

"Hey, Meta Knight...can I talk with you?" Pit asked me.

"Come with me." I said, flapping my cape as I turned around. We climbed up the steps to my office, where Pit shut the door. I sat in my desk.

"Now then...what was it you had to tell me?" I asked Pit.

"Well, when Mario and I came out of the portal, Mario just took off like he had somewhere to be. So I just followed him, from a distance. But then he got so far away that I couldn't see him anymore, so I flew to the other side of the main platform. When I got there, Mario was about to be hit by Dark Pit's Smash attack! I jumped up and over and blocked the attack with my Guardian Orbitars. Then, when I had almost beaten Dark Pit, he called Bowser and Wario and I thought it was the end. Then, Mega Man came out of nowhere and saved us. So he sent us through the portal, and we went through." Pit explained to me.

"So...why are you telling me this?" I questioned.

"It's because they're getting stronger!" Pit yelled, banging his hand on my desk. "Mario used to be able to put up a decent fight against most of the Dark Legion, but I was hardly able to beat Dark Pit with the help of Mario!" Pit shouted, taking his hand off my desk.

"Fine, then! I'll put you, Mario, Marth, Link, Mega Man, and Little Mac into the Chamber!" I said. The Chamber is a virtual training lab that takes up a third of our base. You could do a whole two years of training in a day in the Chamber. I myself have only been in there four times, but stopped because I was getting older faster. When a Smash Brother ages, he or she becomes slower, unable to jump very high, but he or she becomes more resilient and harder to launch. If a Smash Brother dies, he becomes a trophy. The oldest and wisest person in our base is Logan, a Mii brawler. Logan is seventy years old and one of the best fighters we have. He has escaped death many times and moves with power. The Chamber is a good place to train, yes, but a Smash Brother is only allowed a day in the room once a year, if they want to.

"Thank you, sir." Pit said, and exited my office. I sighed. One day that kid is going to have to learn not to worry too much about other people I thought. I got out of my office chair and went to the radar/supercomputer room.

"Luigi! Status report." I said.

"Uh...well, sir, I think you might want to look at this." Luigi said. A video came onto the screen, and it showed Gannondorf walking around Wily Castle. Okay... I thought. Then, a pinkish figure appeared and hit Gannondorf away, then teleported away.

"Luigi, restart the video and play it frame by frame." I ordered. Luigi restarted the video and it went frame by frame. Then the pinkish figure appeared.

"Stop!" I shouted, and Luigi stopped the video. I looked at the figure and gasped. Oh my gosh... I couldn't believe it.

"A-are you okay, sir?" Luigi asked. That was Mewtwo... I thought.

"I'm fine, Luigi. Is there anything you wanted to tell me?" I asked him.

"Well, Donkey Kong is wreaking havoc on Jungle Japes..." Luigi said.

"Alright, then. I'll send someone to deal with Donkey Kong and a team of troops to get Mewtwo on our side." I said. Mewtwo would only join our side if we got him to surrender in a battle. The last time we tried to get Mewtwo on our side, we lost four Miis; another nearly dead. "Is there anything else?" I asked Luigi, who quickly shook his head.

"No, sir." He said.

"Return to your duties." I said, turning towards the stairs.
