Strange, Right?

I woke up and picked up off my bed. I stood and stared at the wall for a second, seemingly thoughtless. I shook my head to snap out of my trance and yawned while walking to the kitchen. I made myself some fast breakfast before returning back to my room and grabbing some clothes out of my dresser. I headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

Adjusting the shower to my liking, I shut and locked the door before stripping off my clothes and hopping into the shower. Once I was clean and ready, I turned the shower off and dried myself before putting on some new clothes. I left the bathroom and went to the kitchen to make myself something to eat before I go to the store today. "Wait, the store? Oh! That's right, I need to go to the store."

I sighed as I made myself some food and ate it in a hurry. Once I was finished, I placed the dish in the sink and quickly grabbed my purse and walked outside. I shut the door behind me and lock it before hopping into my car and driving off to a store. I pulled into the parking lot and got out of my car, locking it before walking into the store. It was just then, I realized I forgot to make a shopping list!

I just shrugged it off and continued through the store. Going from isle to isle, looking for what I needed to get that I could remember before going to the shortest line that I could find for check-out. I payed for my things and left. I walked to my car and placed the bags of groceries in the trunk before closing it and getting in the car myself. I started my car and pulled out of the parking lot before going on the road and to my house.

I got out of my vehicle and went to the trunk to get the bags out. I did just that and went inside. I sat the bags on the counter as I then started to take them out and put them in their correct places. I was about to put something up when I noticed the jack-in-a-box. I walked over to it. It seemed to be in a different place than it was, it was closer to the edge than where I put it. Maybe I moved it without realizing it? I shrugged.

(Y/N) then continued to put away their groceries. They were done when they decided to walk to the living room, but they heard something, so they stopped dead in their tracks. (Y/N) turned to the sound. The box. The box was making noise? They listened closely. The box played a distorted version of what sounded like 'Pop Goes the Weasel' as the handle slowly turned. But the thing was, (Y/N) wasn't touching the handle.

How could the handle be moving without them touching it? They listened closely as they waited for something to happen. The music came to and end. The lid popped open, slightly scaring (Y/N), but nothing popped out. They slowly walked over to the jack-in-a-box, wondering why it started to play, how it could even do anything without them doing anything, why nothing popped out.

Though, (Y/N) knew the box was broken and didn't have anything inside. But they didn't expect for the box to be able to do things by itself. Was it just that broken? To be able to play by itself? (Y/N) didn't know, oh they didn't know anything about this box. They just shiver and walk away from the box, almost completely ignoring its existence. But, the feeling of being watched lingered with them as they walked to the living room with a sigh.

They sat on the couch, looking around every now and then to make sure no one was watching them. They laid down, too scared to move to their room. They then heard a loud BANG sound from the kitchen. They flinched at the noise and slowly sat up to peak into the kitchen, seeing nothing. They stared for a little longer before concluding it was just their imagination and laying back down. They then heard footsteps get closer. And closer. And closer. To the couch they laid on.

They stayed laying down, not wanting to face whatever was there. They shut their eyes tightly as to not see whatever was there. The footsteps stopped. Right in front of them. They kept their eyes closed as they heard movement from the thing that stood in front of them. They felt heat, like someone's breath, on their face. Their breath hitched, caught in their throat.

"(Y/N)~..."

(Y/N) peaked through one of their eyes, seeing a shadowy figure in front of them. They could ever-so-slightly make out the figure. It honestly looked like the guy from... that one night... (Y/N) felt something touch their arm. "I know you're awake..." (Y/N) shivered at the cold touch of this thing. They closed their eyes shut as they heard movement, then footsteps walking away. (Y/N) then felt lightheaded. They didn't try to fight the tiredness that waved over them.

They fell asleep.
