Chapter 2: Manobal Family's Adopted Daughter

Jihyo had never liked Lisa and was never able to treat her as a daughter.

Lisa was adopted to the Manobal Family. A long time ago, Seokjin met with an accident at a construction site and was admitted into the hospital in critical condition. He slipped into unconsciousness and the doctor declared that his situation was dire. There was a chance that he might turn into a vegetable. Old Lady Manobal and Jihyo had no idea what to do.

Old Lady Manobal was a very superstitious person. She immediately went to her trusted fortune teller and he gave her eight characters. The fortune teller instructed her to find a child born with these eight characters as the child would be able to save Seokjin and bring him prosperity.

According to the eight characters, the child would now be seven years old. None of the Manobal family's relatives had a child born according to those characters. Old Lady Manobal then went to an orphanage to look through their information and found someone that was a perfect fit, which was Lisa.

The Manobal family then adopted Lisa. It could be luck or it could be that the fortune teller was accurate but Seokjin woke up on the fifth day Lisa joined the family. Following that, his condition subsequently improved.

For Jihyo, however, Lisa was not her real daughter. She was already seven when she came to the Manobal family. She was already a grown-up child, which meant that it would be difficult for her to accept a strange family. No matter how good Jihyo was to her, Lisa will always know that she is not her real mother. Besides, this child's presence meant she would be robbing Seulgi of her inheritance. Jihyo felt that it was unfair to her daughter. What right does a wild child have with the Manobal family's wealth?

It was just a coincidence that Seokjin woke up. She had never believed that Lisa could bring any fortune to Seokjin. If a wild child was able to give fortune, won't that mean the real daughter of the Manobal family was useless?

That was why Jihyo had never treated Lisa well. She treated Lisa as a poor child who needed sponsorship and had always given her a hard time. No matter what the situation, no matter what the reason, Lisa was always in the wrong. She was also constantly reminding Seulgi to boycott her and not be so nice to her.

As for Seokjin, he naturally does not have a relationship with Lisa. He had never bothered himself with her. Since Lisa was already adopted and the fortune teller's prediction came true, he might as well believed that she brought fortune and treated her like an object placed in the house for a blessing of wealth.

"Aunt Su, don't worry. I won't continue loving a man who is always wavering with his feelings and even betrayed me for money," Lisa said honestly. She did not attempt to hide her sarcasm.

Smack!

Jihyo slapped Lisa hard on the face. "Lalisa, watch your mouth. What do you mean by wavering feelings and betraying you for money? Jimin had always been together with Seulgi. He has never been with anybody else; you are the one lusting after your brother-in-law."

Jihyo narrowed her eyes and grimly pointed at her nose with menace. "Remember, this is a one-sided affair for you. Jimin has never even looked at you. Don't you let me catch any wild rumors brewing out there."

Jihyo put her hands down, looked at Lisa's slightly reddened face and said, "You can calm yourself down here for a while. Don't let anyone see you like this."
