The soup in the pot was boiling, and the rich aroma of fresh ingredients lingered around the kitchen. Rome sang along to the lively melody while cutting the vegetables. He was alone today, waiting for his boyfriend to come home from work. Rome was almost done with cooking when the lights went off. Sighing, he turned off the stove and wiped his hands with the towel. It wouldn't be the first time the electricity just stopped working out of nowhere. Rome tried the switch, but the house remained dark. Annoyed, he made his way to the window, peeking through the curtains. It seemed the whole neighbourhood was left without electricity. He huffed. There was nothing he could do aside from finding some candles and waiting for the power to be turned on again.

Rome wasn't a big fan of the darkness, so Pick made sure they always had a stash of candles prepared. Walking carefully to the other room, he managed not to bump into anything. The bathroom was even darker, making him shiver. He should have insisted on the small window. He stepped closer to the small cabinet, opening it. Rome frowned when he didn't see anything similar to candles. With a sigh, he bent to look through another shelf. His hands were trembling as he tried to be quick. Reaching his arm further into the furniture, he grabbed the plastic wrap with a familiar shape and pulled it out. He was about to run back into the living room when something brushed against his fingers. Rome froze in place. The familiar slimy sensation on his skin made him dizzy. He forced himself to take a look at that thing crawling up his arm. His breath hitched when he spotted the ugliest creature in the world sticking its long red tongue at him. And those big creepy eyes too. He couldn't do this. Rome's head spun, and before he could even scream, his body fell to the ground.

And if later Pick finds his boyfriend lying unconscious on the bathroom floor with a lizard peacefully resting on his chest, it was no one's business.
