JASMINE

"I'd love a drink, thank you," said Adrian, his eyes never leaving mine once.

I could feel my stomach twist into knots, surges of insecurity rushing through my body through millions of different directions at once.

For a moment, it felt like it had only been me and Adrian in the room.

The way that he stared at me...

Like I was a work-of-art.

A goddess.

Nobody had ever stared at me that way before...

The way that he did.

And it caused butterflies to hammer in my chest...

For my breath to catch in my throat.

I was struggling to even compose a sentence in this moment.

"W – what would you like me to bring you?" I croaked.

I rolled my eyes inside of my head, wishing that I would stop making myself look like such a fucking klutz.

He let out a low chuckle, as if he could visibly see how worked up I was getting.

The corners of his mouth curled upwards into a smirk...

Almost as if he was enjoying it.

Enjoying me making myself look like a fucking idiot.

"I'll have some Hennessy," he stated matter-of-factly, folding his arms. "And I'd like to apologize on behalf of Piero over here. He was out of order, and I'm sorry if you felt uncomfortable."

"I never said that I was sorry," Piero snarled, but Adrian flashed him a warning look that caused him to shut up.

"I'll have some Ciroc," said Adrian's friend, the forty-year old man sat next to him.

Piero let out a low chuckle. "Since everybody's drinking... Bring a bottle of Ciroc for the whole table."

He trailed off his sentence, narrowing his eyes at me.

"In fact... Bring the bottles coming all night."

"Okay," I nodded, and turned on my heel nervously.

Ready to make my way back to Peter, to get the drinks everybody wanted.

The way that Adrian just defended me...

Nobody had ever defended me like that before, when I'd been harassed in the bar by weird men who didn't know the meaning of the word 'no'.

Most people would just look by, and claim that it was 'none of their business' to intervene.

But not Adrian.

And I knew that after this night...

I wasn't going to forget this man in a hurry.
