Okay, I think I'll just put a small disclaimer here about Indigo's backstory chapter.

I know that I have mostly kept religion out of my books because, you know, there are waaay too many religions to count, but honestly, I don't think it would be reasonable for all religions to have been completely forgotten or discarded of.

So we have a little bit of mentioning, but I don't want to enforce any stereotypes.

Epsilon in particular also is religious, although he doesn't really show it much. He's part of the vast majority who are actually good people. I can name several people off the top of my head (in real life) who are religious and didn't blow up at me when I said that I was trans. They started to immediately use my chosen name/pronouns and even complimented me when I got my hair cut.

However, there are some people (such as Indigo's parents) who are bigots because they don't want to learn. I think it comes down to that instead of solely being religious, although that mistranslated verse might also be a factor. There are going to be some people in real life who are like that (I have one classmate who I don't talk to much because of this).

I also must mention the diversity of religion. It's not just all believe in one singular god, no. There's also Allah, Yahweh, Buddha, and many others besides. Cinnabar in particular mentioned the Night Marchers, who if you watched Finding Ohana on Netflix, were described as being spirits of fallen warriors who serve the kings and march on the nights honoring Kane, Ku, and Lono. I could write an entire paragraph about that, but this is supposed to be a short note, unlike the previous chapter.

To tie it all together, I would like to state that people in my books are free to state what they say; if they believe in a higher deity, that's fine. If not, that's also okay. Most people are atheist or agnostic, so there aren't going to be a lot of people who say things like 'God help us all,' but I might put in some of that language.

Just keep in mind that in real life, respect people I matter what they think or say. Unless they're being bigots, of course, then that's debatable. Just try to keep your head up and don't spread hate.
