I haven't seen Emma all day. We said we would meet up at lunchtime by the canteen, maybe she got lost.
We haven't gotten any closer to finding out about Brenna and Keelin, and I know this wasn't going to be easy, we could possibly need to wait a couple of months before they show signs of mutation.
I grab a grey lunch tray and pick up some fries for lunch. I sit down at the only empty table left and decide to wait for Emma. I get an itch on my left shoulder blade, when I scratch it I feel a sudden spark of pain. I had just reopened one of my wounds from when I was hit with my fathers metal ruler.
I got hit repetitively countless amounts of times a day, he does this to make be better, to make me less likely to make mistakes. If I do this job, I will make him proud. I will make him less likely want to hurt me, it will make him love me like all fathers should love their kids, but if I fail... He will never give me a second chance.
I now have put myself off my food.
My feet get up from the table and lead me around the school to look for Emma, I walk past all the science classes and then the P.E classes. Then I pass one of the P.E on the end and there are a bunch of students lingering outside, I shove past and step inside, the room is completely empty which is surprising considering all the people standing on the other side of the double doors. I look around the gym and there doesn't seem to be anything completely out of the ordinary. That's when I saw it. A big smash in the concrete wall. This could only have bean caused my something incredibly heavy or something moving at an unbelievable speed. I walk closer to the the the smash and I see something by my feet, I pick it up and realise it's a brand new I-phone! Score! I think to myself. Then I realised who's it was, "it's Emma's phone" I whisper to myself. I look through the voice recordings quickly before the phone dies, there was a recording taken twenty minutes ago... I open it up and listen to it.
"Subject has shown obvious signs of being a mutant, Brenna is traveling at light speed."
The voice memo stops, the screen goes blank, but now I know where Emma must be. There is no time to lose, I grab my things and head home.
