Alissa woke up to pounding on her bedroom door. "ALISSA GET YOUR LAZY ASS OUT OF BED." Her mother hollered from outside the door.

Alissa groaned slightly, squinting at the light peeping through her curtains. "Yes mother." She replied, trying her best to sound fully awake. Alissa rolled out of bed and contemplated what she should wear. She decided on a baby-blue plaid skirt and a white crop top, paired with white airforces and a white, slightly cropped sweatshirt. She brushed her blonde hair so it sat neatly and pushed a baby-blue headband on. After studying a bruise on her top lip carefully in the mirror, Alissa sighed deeply and ventured downstairs.

Head down, Alissa shuffled into the kitchen, trying to go unnoticed by her family. As she put on the coffee machine, her father turned the page of his newspaper. "Make me a coffee too," he barked. "Yes sir." Alissa mumbled back.

The coffee machine beeped to let her know it was done, and she walked over to her father, drink in hand. Her hand was shaking violently and she tried to steady her breathing. She gently placed the mug  down and went to leave, but her father grabbed her wrist tightly.

"Cover up those bruises will you?!" He spoke through clenched teeth. "We wouldn't want people to get the wrong idea now would we?"

Alissa shook her head no "Of course not father, I'll cover them up right away." And with that, she ran up the stairs to her vanity, neglecting the coffee and food she'd made for herself. She carefully took to covering all her bruises with makeup and then finished the rest of her makeup.

Alissa tidied her room and packed her bag, ready for the school day ahead. At 7:45, she left the house and walked to the bus stop, scrolling through Instagram. She sat down at the bus stop and put AirPods in, trying her hardest to ignore the catcalling from across the street.

As the bus came to a halt at the bus stop, she sighed a breath of relief and stepped into the bus, the cold air hitting her face immediately. Alissa walked down the isle, scanning the rows of seats for a familiar face. Her face automatically lit up when she saw a familiar brown mop of hair and mischievous brown eyes from the back of the bus. She quickly walked over to him and sat down.

"Hey Lucas," Alissa greeted warmly, pulling out her AirPods and storing them back in her purse.

"Wow, I'm worth that much to you that you actually took your AirPods out? I'm flattered." Lucas teased, resulting in a playful punch on the arm.

"Whatever," Alissa said, rolling her eyes at Lucas' remark. Lucas and Alissa had been friends since kindergarten, and they grew up together. Lucas was like an older brother to her, and was the closest thing to a family that Alissa ever got. A family that cares for her, that is. Alissa trusted him with everything, because despite him always joking around, he really listened.

The bus pulled into the stop in front of Westbrook High, and everyone clambered out. As Alissa walked through the gates of the school, everyone parted way for her. That's something she'd gotten used to, even though she didn't enjoy it that much. "I've got to go, my friends are calling me, see you at lunch?" Lucas said, walking off.

As Alissa approached her locker, a strong arm slithered around her waist and pulled her back. She immediately spun around and was met with the face of her boyfriend, Tyler. Before she could even greet him properly, he pulled her into a deep and passionate kiss. The hand that was wrapped around her waist made its way down and under her skirt, squeezing tightly and the other hand pulled on Alissa's hair roughly. She tried to pull away but Tyler tightened his grip on her. Finally, he pulled away, allowing Alissa to go back to her locker.

"Hi babe," Alissa said, rummaging around in her locker.

"Hey," He said, looking down at his phone, grinning.

Alissa noticed and tried to peer at his phone, but Tyler quickly turned it off and shoved it into his back pocket. "Who was that?" She questioned.

Tyler scratched the back of his head. "It was just my mate from the team, asking about training tonight. You worry too much babe." He said, grabbing her chin and tilting it so that they were now looking into each other's eyes. Tyler licked his lips hungrily.

Alissa was the first to break the gaze, staring down at her feet. "We should probably head to class. You wanna come with me?" She asked.

"Um, sorry Liss, I promised the boys I'd go to class with them. Catch you later?" Tyler said, walking away slowly.

"Seeya..." Alissa sighed, closing her locker. The bell rang and she turned to go to class, but bumped into someone, causing her to drop her books.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" Alissa apologised, bending down to pick up the books, but the boy she'd bumped into beat her to it.

"Don't worry, I've got it." The boy said, standing back up and giving her the books back. The boy was quite skinny and had black hair. He was wearing a leather jacket and ripped jeans, paid with several rings and necklaces.

"Thank you," Alissa said, looking down at the floor.

"Yeah, no problem," the boy said. "Hey, you're Alissa Hamilton, right? High-school Royalty and all that jazz." He gave her a sarcastic jazz hand.

Alissa chuckled softly. "Yeah, that's me,"

"Well, my name's Sam Anderson," He introduced himself.

"I've heard of you, you're the guy who hangs out in the alleyway and deals drugs to freshmen." Alissa said, recognition in her voice.

Sam chuckled quietly to himself. "Is that what people think I do?" He questioned.

"I mean, yeah, I guess." Alissa replied hesitantly.

Sam opened his mouth to speak but was cut-off by a teacher, "Anderson, Hamilton, the bell's rung, you should be in class!"

"Sorry Miss!" Alissa called back.

"I'll see you around," Sam announced, turning on his heel with a wink.
