Sorry for the late update, I want to get into a better habit of posting so bare with me guys xx. This chapter is going to have a lot of time jumps in it as this is acting as a sort of filler chapter.

Alissa sat in her room, her fairy lights blinking softly. Tears rolled down her cheeks slowly as she stared out her window, wallowing in self pity. Ironically, it was a beautiful day outside, the sun glistening behind the leaves of the trees. The faint sounds of laughter drifted through the air as birds chirped cheerfully.

"Oh fuck off." Alissa groaned, slamming her window shut and closing the curtains.

She then got changed into more suitable clothes for her current mood. This consisted of one of Tyler's jumpers which is way to big on her and a pair of shorts that she wouldn't dare step outside in.

Feeling much better, she put in her air pods and threw herself onto her bed, throwing a blanket over her head. She then decided the only thing better than listening to depressing music on Spotify, was reading depressing Fanfics on Wattpad.

After crying her eyes raw, she slowly sunk into a deep and steady sleep.

•••

Alissa opened her eyes and was met with the bright glare of the sun peeping from behind her curtains and onto her face. Swearing under her breath, Alissa shielded her face with her hand and rolled out of bed.

When she stood up, images from yesterday came flooding into her mind, like a highlight reel but full of the bad parts instead of good. But one thing stuck out to her the most:

Sam Anderson.

He'd helped her, and as soon as she tried to talk to him, he cut her off. Just like that.

Deciding to leave the subject alone for the time being, Alissa slowly got ready for school. The only good thing about her dad coming home heavily drunk, was the fact that he slept in during the mornings, giving Alissa a bit of slack. She finally got to eat and not worry about making other people's breakfast.

Alissa left at her normal time and walked to the bus stop, adjusting her messy bun as she went.

With a screech, her bus pulled into her stop and she was quick to jump on. Alissa walked down the bus, scanning each seat for any sign of Lucas. Every seat she walked past she felt her stomach gradually drop. There was no sign of Lucas and his signature mop of brown hair anywhere.

Immediately, the worst possible scenarios popped into her head. What if his injuries were more serious than they originally thought and he was in hospital? What if he got suspended or expelled for getting into a fight? What if Tyler was fed up and went back for round two?

The sudden lurch of the bus snapped her out of her thoughts as she lost her balance and fell into a person sitting down.

"Woah- shit sorry," Alissa said, recollecting herself and looking at the person she'd made an absolute fool in front of.

A familiar head of flaming red hair and freckles was looking at Alissa with a slight smirk plastered on their face. The girl paused her music and took off her headphones.

"Hey Alissa," The girl said, "come sit down and uh, mind you step."

Alissa laughed. "Max hey! I'm so sorry about yesterday at lunch, I can show you around today if you want?"
