"Welcome to my humble abode."
Sam opened the door to his trailer, revealing a small and messy living room. Dirty clothes and old pieces of paper were scattered around the room, and a small tv sat on a stained coffee table. As Alissa looked around, Sam awkwardly attempted to clean up, stuffing clothes and paper underneath the couch.
They made there way into the kitchen, which wasn't in a better condition. The sink and counters were piled high with dirty dishes and there was an old fridge with a broken handle crammed into the corner.
"Can I get you anything to eat? I've got..." he opened his pantry "a half eaten bag of chips and three packets of ramen noodles."
"You really need to go shopping."
"Yeah." Sam agreed, closing the door to the cupboard and leaning against it.
Alissa rocked on the balls of her feet. "So..."
"The purge, right of course." Sam said, pushing off the door. "Right this way."
Sam lead Alissa into a small room. Unlike the previous rooms, this room was clean and organised. There was a table in the middle of the room with a map of the city sprawled on top. The map was covered in pen marks and the occasional sticky note. On the back wall were several white boards and a small tv. Two desks were pressed against the left wall, both equipped with computers, notepads, stationary and files.
"Where'd you get all this stuff?" Alissa asked, rifling through some files.
"I have my ways." Sam smirked.
Alissa rolled her eyes, trying to fight back a smile. She made her way over to the map, carefully studying each of the notes. After a few minutes, Sam approached her. "Wanna get started?" He asked.
"Sure." Alissa replied, spinning around to face him and tossing her hair slightly.
"Great, ok." Sam walked over to the whiteboards, grabbing a marker. "Let's start with what we know. The purge is going to last 30 days, which means that we're in for a long haul. If we're going off the movies, I'm going to say that the same rules apply. Government officials can't be harmed-"
"But we don't have to worry about that, right? Because we're not going to hurt anyone." Alissa cut in.
"Yes, but let's say that the Government Officials want to hurt us, we can't hurt them back." Sam stated.
Alissa and Sam contemplated that thought for a moment, letting it sink in. "So just... steer clear of the Government?" Alissa suggested.
"Yeah, best bet is to not piss any of them off." Sam agreed, turning back to the whiteboard. "Continuing on, weapons class 4 or lower can be used. That means we'll be up against things such as knives, guns, lasers, tasers, and flamethrowers. That also means that any type of bomb is off the table for anyone. How people would get those weapons is another story." Sam said, writing short dot points on the board.
As Sam was writing a full list of what weapons are allowed in the Purge, Alissa spoke. "Also, medical, police and fire services will be out of service. Now I don't know if that means for the whole 30 days, or if they'll be able to tend to some people, but we can't rely on them. We should probably practice some first aid and stock up before everyone else."
Sam snapped his fingers. "Smart. We could go today?"
"Sounds good." Alissa agreed.
"Ok, now that we've got the general rules down, let's talk game plan." Sam began. "First up is who we're going to be working with during the purge. These need to be people we can trust and who won't hold us back. Anyone come to mind?"
