I got discharged around 8am the following day. I made my way back to my dorm first to change before wanting to go meet Ming to meet the Dean. However I was a little late and it was already 9.45am when i reached the Dean's office only to see Ming coming out.

"Hey I'm sorry I was late. Have you met the Dean already?"

"Yes P. Its fine. Why did you come? You should have just rested."

"No I said I be here for you. How did it go? I can talk to the Dean if you want."

"I took your advice. I was confident and presented myself calmly again. She took it this time. Zero revision needed."

I smiled. I nodded my head at him. I was about to take my leave when Ming stopped me.

"Heading back to dorm? Let me send you back?"

I looked at him for abit, he really wasn't such a bad guy. I nodded in agreement and Ming went to get his bike. I waited for him at the entrance. Just then, Ning came by. She was the top female student of the medical cohort for this year. I know she wanted to be the top student overall but I did give her a tough fight. I was currently holding onto that spot. I usually didn't fight with girls but this woman was a piece of work.

I just ignored her whilst waiting for Ming. Ning came by and stopped infront of me.

"Hey Phana, what are you doing here?"

Before I could reply, Ming rode up. "P, ready? Let's go."

I nodded at him and walked towards the bike. Just then I heard Ning call out, "top student but gay? Wonder how that be on your rep."

I clenched my hands but decided to ignore her. Ming heard it and got off his bike. Before I could stop him, he walked up to her.

"Giving a senior a ride doesn't mean he is gay. He is my mentor and I do not take kindly to the fact that you are trying to bully him like this."

"Wow Phana, you sure got this guy doing your dirty work for you."

"Ning, get lost. Before I lose it and I inform the Dean on you."

"Of course you would. That's what you are good for anywys, sucking up. Is that why you are so good at it? Practice on and off court?"

Before I could react, Ming got so angry and lunged at her. I tried to pull him away from her but he managed to slap her once before being stopped by me.

Ning screamed at him and tried to hit him back. I pulled him towards me and blocked the hit, getting hit squarely on the back.

I turned around and told Ning to stop it before things escalated. She got so angry at me that she threatened to tell the Dean and I sent her on her way, telling her to go ahead as I would have my own side to share too.

She stomped away in anger. I sighed and turned around to Ming who was fuming red. He turned to look at me and before I could say anything, he muttered, "I am not going to say sorry to her. She deserves it."

I looked at him for such a long while before I finally broke into a smile. "Thank you."

Ming just nodded his head and motioned for me to get onto his bike. I did and he sent me home, both of us quiet on the way, consumed by our own thoughts.

Just as we reached the entrance of my dorm, Ming received a call. It was Forth on the line. And I could hear Forth screaming at him.

I gulped as I watched Ming's face change. He tried to reply but Forth wasn't giving him a chance to. When he hung up the phone, I looked at Ming.

"Is everything OK?"

"It will be P. I got to go back first but I will see you around soon."

"Ming..Ming.. " but he just took off on his bike tersely.

I watched as he went, the distinct sense of something horrible going to happen growing bigger.
