elliot slumps against the wall as he struggles to take his ridiculous suit off, before shoving on some old clothes, he exists the bathroom and flicks off the light.

"hey!" kai yells from somewhere in the dark hotel room.

elliot laughs, "my bad, wrong switch."

he flicks it back on and reveals a disheveled, half-dressed kai sprawled out on their shared bed. the covers are still tucked in around the edges, elliot jumps onto the bed beside his boyfriend.

after a moment of silence, kai says, "hey, li? you wanna do something?"

"huh?"

the boy shrugs, "i dunno, it's still early. the night is young. let's go some place."

elliot frowns, "dude, where?"

it's only a matter of minutes before both boys are sprinting down the corridors as quietly as they can as to not disturb anyone. however they both begin snorting at every noise they make.

"shh!" elliot laughs.

once the pair get outside, they wander around the streets for a little, talking about whatever comes to mind. the streetlights flicker every so often, it's peaceful out.

"i wish i brought my board." kai mumbles.

"hey, you wanna go for a ride?" elliot suggests, "look."

he gestures towards some bicycles for hire. they hop on and cycle around for a while. soon enough the pair are racing each other down the quiet street, laughing each time they overtake the other.

their grips on the handlebars are so tight, knuckles are turning white.

elliot turns his head once he catches kai up, facing the boy whose hair is pushed back with the wind. he admires the boy, who's too focused on the road to notice.

"hey, wait a second." kai says, lowering his voice and suddenly stopping the bike by stomping both feet to the ground.

curious eyes wander to the bushes beside them, elliot stops and pushes himself off the bike.

kai follows him, whispering, "what is it?"

the pair jump back in surprise when they see more movement from within the bushes, then a sudden but firm meow leaves the air, seconds before a cat appears.

elliot awes at the cat, who nudges it's head against his legs and he bends down to pet the animal.

they get into a discussion about what it's name should be, kai agrees that, "it should be boots, look at his paws!"

it's not long before their new friend wanders off into the night and the two are back on their bikes, cycling around town.

muscles flex against pedals, elliot glances over, eyes flicking from the road to kai and back again. his eyes wander and he mindlessly slows down on his bike so he can stare at at kai carefully.

he watches the way kai's shirt ripples in the wind, the sliver of tanned skin just above his waistband that he suddenly craves to touch.

kai lets go of the handlebars for a brief moment to stick his arms out, letting the wind flow through his shirt to cool him down. this lifts the shirt even higher, and the dimly lit street makes him look straight out of a movie.

elliot drinks in this moment, and takes a mental picture.

the pair unknowingly reach the beach, and kai forces the other to stop as well. they abandon their bikes and take a stroll over the sand.

taking off their shoes and socks, they tread over to the water, it's peaceful, too peaceful. kai slightly freaks at the silence, and feels the urge to break it.

he kicks water at elliot playfully, who kicks even more back.

kai disappears for a moment and the brunet thinks for a moment that he's gone. but he returns again, with no shorts on.

he grins gleefully, taking his shirt off in one motion.

"uh, what are you doing?" elliot frowns.

kai laughs, his chest rising and falling quickly. "we're alone, nobody's around."

"so?"

"so, we're young and free or something. come on."

elliot copies him and leaves his clothes on the sand before stepping next to kai again. for a moment, everything is just perfect.

the only sounds are the waves crashing and falling against each other and the sound of their breaths. the moonlight reflects on the glassy sea, enchanting them both.

"run." kai says, breathlessly.

"huh?" elliot barely gets a word out before his hand is being held and he's being dragged along into the freezing water.

the air fills with laughter as they sink into the ocean, as they rise again, they're at chest level with the water.

it's cool against their warm skin, which erupts into goosebumps with each wave that washes over them.

they swim around, playing and enjoying the water, forgetting about all of their worries and feelings. tonight, it's just them, together. they both wish this moment would never end.

"hey, li?"

elliot peeks over, hair dripping down his forehead and around his eyes, he shakes the water from his head.

"is this a good time to tell you i think i love you?"

he hums, "bad timing. i think i'm catching hypothermia."

the pair laugh, hands intertwined as they walk out. they keep the hold on each other's hands all the way back to their hotel room, it's not before long they're in bed fighting sleep - they didn't want this to end.

"i love you too, by the way." elliot whispers as they fall asleep.
