Between Bumpy

Bb PT 7

The thought of Ben lingered in my mind as we all went on with our day. Everything seemed pretty much the same, before the boat incident.

After Kenji got out of the shower, soaking wet and seemingly cold still from the water, he laid in bed. I think he was just to cold and needed some warmth.

Brooklyn and Sammy were both sitting on logs talking to each other about whatever girls talked about. I usually expect to see yaz with Sammy but she was nowhere to be found. I guess that could be considered the only strange thing going on, besides Ben being completely missing.

Sammy and Brooklyn themselves looked as if they were trying to talk in a secretive manner. They look back-and-forth at me and maybe at Kenji to but I'm not really sure. If they hadn't been looking so secretive, then maybe I would have asked them where Yaz was.

"hey Kenji, do you know where Yaz is?" I ask, turning my head to the top of my bunkbed, as if he would know I was looking at him. he had been silent for a good minute, so I thought he could've been asleep, But the rustle in his bed as I spoke reassured me that he was awake.

"UHHH I don't know last time I heard from her was when we were chasing the compy. I think I kind of heard Brooklyn trying to tell me that she was going somewhere....something to do with the boat but now that I think about it I think it had to involve me because I don't know why she would tell me and not you. " he said. It's always clear when Kenji doesn't pay attention, because he will start ranting as he realizes more and more of something he should probably remember.

" what would you, Yaz, and the boat have anything to do with eachother?" I asked outloud, technically to nobody.

"OH!" Kenji yelled, sitting up on his bed. I heard him take his blanket off of him and jump down to face me. "God Darius you are a life saver! I would have totally forgotten that me and Yaz volunteered to put the concrete in the hole!"

"How could you have forgotten something that important?" I ask, struggling to understand Kenji. "Oh, if y'all are gonna be out there, for who knows how long, can you try finding Ben for me!" I ask as Kenji starts running into the woods. He doesn't give a verbal response but he gives a thumbs up.

   "What do i do now..?" I ask, leaning my head against my pillow. I could try to listen to what Brooklyn and Sammy were saying, but I don't want to intrude in their business.

   "Okay I'm sure it won't kill anyone if I listen for a bit" I reassure myself, getting out of my bed and laying down behind a the railing, where they couldn't see me but I could hear them.

   Sammy: do we tell him?

   Brooklyn: What good would that do? It's just a radio, I'm sure Ben is still fine. Probably eating berries with bumpy right now!

   Sammy: but he left all his stuff here! Doesn't that seem like a bad sign?

   Brooklyn: if I had never tripped on the radio than we would have never found it! We would have stayed out and never questioned where Ben was! What's the difference now?

   Sammy: his RADIO that he uses to COMMUNICATE to us is HERE? Oh and maybe the fact BEN ISNT HERE?

   Brooklyn: okay than go tell Darius! Make him worry about Ben more! Make him go search the WHOLE island for Ben, just for Ben to come back here in a good hour!

   ...

   Brooklyn: speaking of Darius...where is he?

   ..!

   last episode was pizza fun, what will it be today?

   "Bumpy I'm so boreddddd" Ben announced, laying flat on Bumpy's back.

   Bumpy must have tooked that as a sign to lift Ben up into the air, because she kicked her back legs and up he goes.

   AGHHHHH!

   He slid down bumps tail like a slide.

   "Har har, very funny" he exclaimed, holding the back of his head as if it has been hurt during the fall.

   "I miss them already bumpy..."

   All I could think about was how they betrayed  me. It hadn't even been 3 hours but I already felt like forgiving them, going back home and pretending that I never left. But what if they were gone? What if they had found some way to cover up the hole, packed their stuff up, and left..? Without me? would they? Should I check?
