New hope

JULIE POV:
When I got home that night. I was so tired I forgot to even tell my dad about the new animatronic. I heard my dad down stairs making breakfast when I woke up. I walked down stars and sat on the stool by the table.
"Hey dadio" I said grabbing he bread out of the fridge. My dad didn't respond he just kept cooking his eggs.
"Dad?"
"Where were you last night, Julie?! You had me worried sick. You were home late an hour past curfew and you didn't even come up to tell me you were home!"
I kinda felt bad, I guess I should have told him I was going with James before I just left with him.
"I was with James," I said putting the bread in the toaster.
My dad turned and looked at me with a concerned look on his face.
"Why the heck were you with James so late?!"
My dad angrily scrambled his eggs and poured them on a plate waiting for me to answer.
"Dad calm down I was just-!"
"YOU COULD HAVE BEEN MURDERED" My dad turned away from me in disgust.
I don't know what was the matter with my dad. He usually wasn't so uptight. He never yelled at me.
"I lost you mother-"
"Dad-"
"And the business soon, I just can't loose anything anymore your all I have Julie,"
"Dad I'm sorry."
He pulled me in for a hug and didn't let me go for a whole minute.
"What exactly were you doing with James?"
"Dad I'm sorry and We were-" I smiled "you know what me and James will just show you!"
"Show me what?"
"You'll see, common lets go into work then we will show you."
"Okay? But your still in big trouble!"
"Yeah, yeah whatever I'll deal with my punishment later now come on"
My dad stuffed his eggs in a piece of toast and we got into the car and drove into town.
When we got there we saw James sitting by the door.
"James is here early? He doesn't need to come in for another hour."
I looked at James' truck and I could see the animatronic covered up in a sheet.
"James, nice to see you, why are you here so early?"
"Hey," James said shaking my dads hand. James gave me an Akward little sideways "hug" and lead my dad inside.
"Go inside for a sec we have something to show you."
My dad gave us a weird look and walked inside and started unstacking all the tables. I helped James get the animatronic out of his back truck while my dad was inside. "Thank you, again, You don't know how grateful I am you made us this."
"Let's hope it still works" he smiled and lifted the animatronic onto a dolly. "Oh I forgot, you left your bracelet in my car, lemme go grab it."
I looked at my wrist I had no idea it was missing. James handed me my bracelet and smiled
"Here you go"
"Thanks,"
He rolled the animatronic into the building.
"Dad come see" my dad turned around and gasped.
"Wha-"
he stepped up closer in amazement and just stared. "Ho-how did you get this?"
"James made it" I said poking James in the arm.
"How on earth did you make this?"
"Long story short I dropped out of college and I can make stuff"
My dad looked like he was gonna cry
He walked up to James. James held out his hand expecting a hand shake but my dad pulled him in for a bear hug. Then he pulled me in too.
"Dad-"
"I can't breath"
"Dad-" I started laughing and James did too.
"Dad we need to open"
He finally let us go.
"Does it work?" James stepped forward and handed my dad the remote.
"Try it out yourself."
My dad pressed the on button and James explained what all the buttons did.
"Wow" my dad was so amazed.
My dad pushed the call back to stage button and he went back to the dolly we had him on. Then my dad was even more surprised when it started singing.
"Wow"
"I thought the kids would like the singing"
My dad turned it off and set the remote down.
"James, I" my dad paused and swallowed."I can't just take this!"
"We have to pay you!"
"Sir it's fine" James said brushing his hair out of his face.
"No, it's not. Common lets talk."
My dad lead James into his office.
Then the other workers started to show up. My dad and James didn't come out of his office so I just opened up for him.
"Morning Julie!"
I looked behind me and saw a tall boy.
"Oh hey Mark," I didn't really know him, other than he went to my high school. I was lucky enough to remember his name.
"How have you been?"
"Good," I replied.
"What brings you here?" I said wiping off a table.
"Oh my family is coming here for my little sisters birthday," he pointed to his family sitting down in the big round booth.
"Oh cool, how old is she turning?"
"The great 8"
I nodded and moved in the wipe the next table.
"Well I guess I'll see you around,"
"Yeah see ya, and tell you sister I said happy birthday,"
He walked back to his table and sat down. I wondered how he recognized me. We never talked and he had a toto sly different schedule than me, so I never really saw him. And even if we did see each other we probably didn't notice. He was a nice boy, from what I heard, but I just never got to know him.
"Betsy, can you serve the round booth please?" I shouted to one of our waiters. She nodded and grabbed some menus and walked over to them.
Finally after what seemed like forever James and my dad came out of the office.
I ran up to them.
"Hey, I opened up for you,"
"Thanks Julie,"
"Hey boss- were almost outa eggs"
"Alright I'll run out and get some,"
"Wait dad, me and James can run out and get them,"
"Okay, here take some money,"
My dad handed us a $20 and told us what kind of eggs to get.
"Okay see ya dad, we will be back soon."
James held the door open for me and we got in his truck.
"So what took you so long in my dads office?"
"We were having a hard time cooperating on payment..." James stopped at a stop lights.
"Where even is the grocery store?"
"Turn left and head towards main street"
"So what did you and my dad agree on?"
"Well," he turned left and started talking again. "He agreed to give me enough money to fix up my truck,"
He headed into Main Street
"Where to now?"
"Head straight for three blocks and then turn to the right"
"Anyways fixing my truck comes to about $1000-$3000 dollars."
"Well that's good, at least your truck will be as good as new."
James turned into the grocery store parking lot and parked the car.
We both got out and headed to door.
"How old are you anyways, I never think I asked."
"I'm 21, and you?" James grabbed a shopping basket and walked into the eggs section.
"I'm 19"
I thought back to when I first met him. I thought he was a creep, but now I know he's not. I was right in the ballpark on his age though.
"What kind of eggs did your dad want?"
"The uncaged chicken ones."
We grabbed three 18 packs of eggs and walked to the checkout line.
"That will be $10.76 please"
James handed the checkout lady the $20 and she gave us the change.
"Well that didn't take long"
We walked outside and started to head to the car when I heard a similar voice.
"Hey Julie baby, how you doin?"
I turned around to see my ex boyfriend and his little "possy"
"Don't call me baby, we broke up ages ago David, get over it"
We started walking away but then he grabbed my arm and pulled me back to him.
"Don't you miss me baby?"
"Leave me alone" I said trying to loosen my arm from his grasp.
"Come on don't you wanna give me a kiss?" He leaned in and I turned away in disgust. I could smell the alcohol in his breath.
"Hey leave her alone" James said setting the eggs on the ground.
"What are you gonna do about it?"
James walked up but then David's friends grabbed him and held him back
"DAVID LET US GO" I screamed into his ear as loud as I could.
James had enough of it. He kicked one of the dudes holding him in the shin, which got him to let go of James. Then he kicked the other in the knee.
"Let go of her, I don't want to cause any more trouble"
James stepped forward and waited for him to let go.
"Make me" David said then he pulled me backward on the neck, which made me gag a little and David pulled out a knife. He was holding on to me throat with his arm , which started making me choke.
Then everything started to get all dizzy. I gasped for air and tried to beg David to let me go.
Everything sorta went black after that.
