Ximena and Rome were walking into the grocery store with her little nieces. She put Skye in the cart after wiping it down with a complimentary disinfect wipe. Ximena was adjusting to her new life with the girls. Being conscious of what she bought and how much of it since there were two new mouths feed. Rome most likely accompanied her to step up and pay for the groceries in outstanding chivalry but, independent like she was, Ximena would decline. She pushed the cart through the aisles, preparing for little Ember to ask for something.
Ember: Can we get this Auntie? Huh TiTi?
Ximena: Yes, Ember.
She put it in the cart.
Ximena: I cant feed y'all too much junk. Y'all's Mama ain't leave y'all in my hands for me to do that.
They looked around and shopped a little more. Ximena tsked. She wanted something that was higher up and went to climb the shelves.
Rome: Hey Babe! Ask for my help and I'll get it. Which one?
Ximena: That one.
Rome: This kind?
Ximena: Yes, Thank you, Baby.
She tiptoed a little and pressed a kiss to his lips. Just small gestures like that made Ximena fall in love all over again with Rome. He was showing her very subtle affection and doing things he knew she'd like. He played with Ember, hugged Ximena's waist, and grabbed things that were heavy like a melon and the milk.
Ember: Look TiTi!
She pointed to pistachios.
Ember: My mommy like those, 'memeber TiTi?
Ximena: Yeah... I remember Em...
Ximena bit the side of her bottom lip and tried to make it like she was busy observing something else. Poor little Ember had no idea she was causing her 'TiTi' so much pain. Ximena tried to pretend every little thing didn't remind of her mom and sister. The hurt in her heart was still fresh.
Ember: We get some for her for when she come back?
Ximena sighed and her lip started quivering. Rome listened and started ticking Skye.
Ximena: Auntie told you Em, I'm gonna be taking care of you for your mommy now because her and Nai Nai went to Heaven.
Ember: For forever?
Ximena: Yeah Boop... for forever... But you know what else?
Ember: Hm?
Ximena: They gonna love you forever too... On Earth and in Heaven.
They went over to the meat area. Ximena observed the different cuts.
Ximena: You want salmon for dinner?
Rome: I'll eat whatever you decide to cook.
Ximena: Mmm... How about... How about I make us some steaks? We can open up some wine and I'll put the girls to bed and then we'll pop some popcorn with a movie.
Rome: And then...
He put his mouth to her ear and whispered something so raunchy that it made her bite her lip even visualizing it. She laughed and pulled back.
Ximena: Yes! We can do that too to end our night.
She pulled him to a quick kiss.
They finished their shopping and got their stuff ringed up.
