Episode Five: The Heist

Rain:

"Rainy wake up! It's christmas!"

"what?" I say rubbing my eyes.

"It's christmas! Santa left you a lot of presents!" bered says gently rocking me back forth. "christmas!" I quickly jump out of bed and into the hallway , my small feet sound like pitter-patter running across the hardwood floors. when I get to the tree I see no presents under it, I began to look around the house thinking that maybe santa was too busy to put the presents under the tree. I look into the garage and there it was the perfectly packaged presents wrapped in shiny red, blue, and gold paper. I grab the medium sized present first , when I tear of the paper off I see "essence bloom!" It was volume six, of one my favorite manga's that was about girl with supernatural powers that fights against evil. "Rain Aaliyah thompson! what are you doing" mom says looking at me angirly. "It's christmas!" I say hugging her. she looks down at me "christmas? who told yo-. Bered!"

"Rain, could you get the ornaments from the garage" mom says wrapping the lights around the tree. "Ya sure, but why, I thought you said it wouldn't be right celebrating christmas without bered"

"Yes, about that... Bered wanted to surprise you, but he's coming home."

"home?"

"Yes but only for two weeks...but then he'll have to be deployed."

I try to make sense of what my mom was saying "Are saying he got some sort of winter break? because that's weird he didn't get one last time."

"that's what makes it more special because the military decided to give him something called christmas exdous"

"christmas exdous?"

"rain stop repeating everything I say, aren't you happy you're brother is coming home"

she says putting her hand on her hips. "I'll go get the oranments"

Instead of getting the ornaments like my mom asked I went in my room to lie down, I started to think about how long since I seen bered and if he had suffered from any apparent injuries. "buzz" my phone starts vibrating, I quickly get up to get it before it vibrates off the desk. It was a text from Justin asking if i were busy tonight?.It made me happy that he was texting me, well to be honest any text from him made me smile whether it was hi or hows was your day?,I always try to calm myself before texting him back whether to use capital letters or using the correct emoji, I mean, I wasn't use to texting anyone let alone a boy I liked. So my response had to be perfect.

Rain: No I am not busy tonight, is there something you require?

Justin:lol.

I tried to think about what was so funny?or maybe I forgot to put a comma in my sentence? Before I can respond I get another text from Justin.

Justin: y r u talking like that?

Rain: Don't you mean typing?

Justin: type, talk , whatvr. I just want to know y r u texting like a robot?

Rain: A Robot?

Justin: nvm i'll just call u.

Call me!?! I don't think I was prepared for conversation over the phone, but then again I talk to justin face to face, so him calling me wasn't any different. "buzz" my phone begins to steadily vibrate. I quickly pick up the phone, "hey." i say trying not to sound to eager. "hey. who is this again?" "Are you serious justin? I'll hang up on you right now." Justin begins to chuckle "look i'm just messing with you, what I really wanted to ask you if you want to come to a party of mine?" "a party?...what kind of party" "kinda like a birthday party but without the clown" I can't help but to laugh "So you want to come? you can bring that girl you hang out with what's her nam-" "symone" i say cutting him off from making any jokes. "ya her,so want me to pick you up?" "I didn't say yes" "oh my bad, I'll wait." There's a brief silence over the phone before both of us start laughing. "yes i'll go, but i'll get my own ride there i don't want to pull you away from hosting." "ya i guess, but it aint worth hosting if your not there" "um, you'll text me the address."
