★〜★

A gentle breeze blows across the greeny land. It softly ruffles grass and tree leaves. Bugs scurry to other places in means of shelter and peace. The land itself looks undisturbed by man-made construction.

Two inklings sat at a tree, chatting about trivial things. They both seem invested in the conversation. One listened while the other played with the flowers found there.

His fingers intertwined with the other. They sat there, gazing into the others eyes. His was a vibrant pink while the other was a warm orange.

They laughed it off. The little moments between the two meant the world to both. Not a minute would go by where they didn't feel placid and happy.

The pink one stood up to stretch. He grabbed the others hand and pulled him up to dance. They started to twirl and spin and move around doing all sorts of things.

They settled down once more and watched the sun as it began to set. The orange to pink fade as it started to turn into night.

Little stars would mar the sky and the moon shined beautifully this particular night. The two cuddled and held each other in their arms.

Life is perfect.

. . .

Rather, life seemed perfect. None of it lasted; not the feeling nor time. It was unforgiving.

The sky cracked and black seeped into the perfect world. The green and lively ground crumbled into dead and dry grass. The trees would whither and collapse onto itself.

The once couple were seen arguing with each other. The orange one turned his back on him and walked away into the darkness. The pink inkling had to witness his lover fade into particles as the darkness surrounded him.

Everything had been consumed by the never-ending darkness. The poor pink inkling was all alone.

He fell to his knees and looked to the floor beneath him. He felt blind yet he was able to see. He felt muted yet he was able to shout. He felt deaf yet he was able to hear.

Nothing mattered anymore.

The silence was deafening. Aloha, the inkling, cursed himself out. He promised he'd protect his lover from anything at any cost. He had failed.

He knew this day would come. He thought he would be ready to sacrifice himself for the one he was madly in love with, yet a simple disagreement brought it all to waste.

It all went to ruins. He had failed himself. He failed to properly protect all those he loved. He knew he didn't deserve to live anymore.

"Darkness that is surrounding me, consuming everything, but I won't let it get a hold of you."

"I won't let it... get you... I won't..."
