Admist the bustling city, y/n walked down the roads of Sumeru city, admiring the beauty of the city. The atmosphere there was warm. Children running around playing tag, the warm scent of food from bakeries; stalls - and there it was. The tavern.
Y/n slid in the tavern after scanning for any potential enemies. Once the coast was clear, she entered the tavern and headed walked up to the tavern's owner, Silva who was brewing drinks for her customers.
She felt a piercing gaze from two men who were sitting by a corner, but she remained calm, trying not to draw attention.Wiping off the sweat from her forehead, Silva picked up two mugs of hot chocolate from the kitchen and turned around to see y/n, who was sitting cross legged, smiling at her.
"Ah, y/n. What a pleasant surprise," Silva exclaimed as she passed the mugs to two customers who seemed quite shady...
"Shhhh - People are listening," y/n whispered. Silva shot her a knowing look.
"Ahem, it's nice to see you too. Can the usual please?" Y/n asked.
"Sure, coming right up," Silva responded as she rushed off to the kitchen.
At that moment, the two men caught her eye as they made a brief eye contact.y/n pov:
They look quite suspicous. Just a moment ago, I felt their eyes on me the moment I entered the tavern, as if they're... monitoring my every move.
𝑩𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒋𝒖𝒎𝒑 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔. Silva and I chatted a while as I chugged down my drink - it was nice to have a friend outside the castle.
"Now- I must be on my way soon. Do you have the parcel I ordered?" I asked.
"Yep," she nodded, gave me a grin and passed me the parcel from behind the counter.Slipping the parcel into my backpack, I bid Silva goodbye and exited the tavern.
As I walked, I noticed the two men from the tavern following me. I slowly glanced back, trying to remain calm as I continued walking. After taking 3 right turns, they were still on my tail - something was not right. I walked all the way to the other side of the city to a remote dead end. Stopping dead in my tracks, I flipped my cape aside.
"What do you want?" I snarled, drawing out my daggers behind my back.
"Ha. Wrong question," One of them replied.
"You think you can handle us?" The other one asked, drawing his sword out as he inched closer. "Cooperate and come with us, unless you want things to get ugly."
I flinched. I have never dealt with sword dealers before... I gulped. 𝑫𝒂𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕, 𝑰 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒔𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒔-
Shaking my head, I summoned my magical daggers out, saying "Over my dead body."Evading the first attacker, I concealed myself using invisibility and stabbed the first attacker. One down.
The second one was a lot tougher - he was taller and much sharper. Trying to use my invisibility spell again, the man chuckled, "That won't work on me" I then noticed the brooch on his cloak, a magic identifier, that glimmered in the moonlight.
"You-"
Before I could attack, he slammed me down from behind. Hitting my head hard on the ground, my vision started to blur a little. Just as the man was about to touch me, a tall figure jumped from the roof and landed lightly on the ground.I suddenly felt a sense of ease. At least someone was there...
The ringing in my head wouldn't stop as I felt my eyelids droop down. I heard the man's muffled screams before there was complete silence. I then felt a strong pair of arms lift me up into his arms - 𝑶𝒉 𝒄𝒓𝒖𝒅, 𝒂𝒎 𝑰 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒌𝒊𝒅𝒏𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒅?As I forced my eyes to open, I saw a familiar face staring down at me with those teal eyes- was I hallucinating?
It can't possibly be - it was Al haitham.
From the dead.
Perplexed, I tried muttering a few words, but my head was killing me.
___________________________________________"Al? Is that you?" Y/n croaked, mustering a few words.
"Shh... I think it's best if you rest for now," Al Haitham replied.
Y/n then passed out on Al Haitham's chest as he brought her deep into the woods, away from the castle.
