Panting, huffing and puffing, y/n ran as fast as she could without looking back.
Spotting the royal garden through the window, she sprinted down the stairs.
As soon as she made it to the garden, she tripped on the hem of her dress and fell flat on the smooth, moist grass.

"Haha, running away from classes again?" A familiar handsome boy asked, sitting on a bench nearby reading a book on herbalism.
"Al, mind giving a lady a hand here?"  Y/n muttered.

"Of course - " Al Haitham smirked, offering his hand.

"Although- Shouldn't you be in a certain herbalism class?" He asked while closing his book.

Taking his hand, y/n blushed and avoided the question, averting Al Haitham's piercing gaze.

"Son of house Haitham, must you really know about my personal bussiness?" Y/n teased, trying to avoid the question.

"Well, 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒖, why are you really here?"

"I came here to see you, Al" Y/n replied, still avoiding Al Haitham's gaze.

Smiling, Al haitham said, "Well, I'm deeply flattered,"

"Anyway, I got this for you," Al Haitham said as he whipped out a flower from his bag. It was a strange, beautiful flower with a purple colour that radiated a glow.

"A sumeru flower!" Y/n exclaimed, examining the intricate flower carefully.
"Haha, you do know how to please a lady!" Y/n giggled as she took the flower.

"Anything for you, y/n..." Al Haitham replied, while pondering about something.

"Is something wrong?" Y/n asked.

"No, nothing at all. Just that I found a perfect place for a picnic in the mountains for us to go, if you feel like it?"

"You know me way to well, Al!" Y/n grinned and stood up.

"I'll get the food, you wait here, okay?" Al Haitham told y/n as he headed towards the kitchen.

Y/n's pov

I teared up. Those were such memorable times that I enjoyed with Al Haitham... Sneaking out of the castle or just hiding together to spend some time together.

Until- Suddenly, the weather in my dream changed. The atnosphere turned tense and ominous as dark clouds approached. As I turned, the happy memory was no longer there, and was replaced by the most heartbreaking one.

It was on my 15th birthday, when Al Haitham had turned 17, he was assigned to train and fight in the war against the fatui from Snezhnaya.

They were infiltrating the country gradually, with spies everywhere, hunting down every source of knowledge from us to quench their hunger for power. After all, knowledge is power, and wisdom always came with a price.

This dream was vivid. Emotions were all flowing back to me as the scene unfolds.
Standing on the belcony, I was staring into the distant mountains when a familiar voice interrupted my daydrean.

"Y/n."

I turned around, only to see Al Haitham standing there in full uniform, getting ready to head to the military camp.

"Do... do you really have to go?"

"I'm afraid I have to, your highness. It's my duty." Al replied with sadness with his eyes.

"I see..."

"I know you're worried - and to be honest, I'm scared too. I'm not sure when I'll be back." Al Haitham said, holding ny hand. It scared me - the look in his eyes were full of determination, but they were the eyes of someone who was ready to die for their nation.

"Al... Will I still be able to see you soon? Promise me you'll write to me?" I asked, trying not to choke up.

I felt my face turn red as he wrapped me in his arms. "I'll write to you every single day, I promise,"

"No matter what happens, I'll always find my way back to you." Al Haithan said as he hugged me tighter.

"Here, I'd like to give you something before I depart," Al Haitham said as he took off his golden locket that he always wore.

"It's my lucky charm, but I want you to have it- for keepsake, since I don't want anything to happen to it when I'm away,"

"A-are you sure?" I asked.

"Yes. You're the only person that I trust with it, y/n,"

Once he left, I opened the locket.
It had a clock inside, with a compass at the very back.
I grasped onto the locket as I watched him depart from the castle by his horse, watching him fade into the horizon.

Then, the dream changed once again, and I found myself in the most dreadful memory: The day that Al Haitham was pronounced dead.

Or so I thought. It was a rainy afternoon when I received another letter from Al Haitham's army, but this time it was from the general.

When I read the letter, I immediately stopped reading at the word 'dead'.
Al Haitham passed away, and according to the letter, he died at war.

I reread the letter again and again in disbelief, checking if the letter was forged. It wasn't - there was the general's seal on it...

Overwhelmed by shock, I sank onto the ground. The time on the locket also stopped working, stopping at the time of 3.15... "Was that the time that he passed away?" I often thought.
The next few days didn't get better. I refused to come out of my room, and I would just shut myself out from everyone.

At that moment, I felt tears rolled down my eyes as I snapped my eyes open, only to find myself in a strange room, with Al Haitham next to me, reading a book.

"Ah, y/n... you're finally awake,"
