That next morning, I woke up to the sounds of someone walking annoyingly on the floor above me. I lay wide awake for a moment before dragging myself out of bed and changing into some jeans and a simple black blouse.
Making my way into the kitchen I choose to make some oatmeal and coffee before grabbing my laptop to finish more work. After I was done eating, I grabbed my keys and headed out my door and toward campus yet again. But of course, luck wasn't on my side and I bump into someone almost immediately. My phone was thrown down the hall along with someone else's. "Sorry," I mumbled while walking over to where both phones were.
Reaching down to pick them up, I stand back up and am about to hand them their phone back when I decide to push my shame aside and look up. When I tell you I've never seen eyes as green as this guy's, I am not lying. Snapping out of my little staring episode, I noticed that the guy I was openly staring at wasn't too happy.
"It's fine," he finally says once I hand over his phone. I'd be lying if I said that he was ugly. In fact, I think I'd be lying if I said he was hot. He was probably the most jaw-droppingly handsome guy I have ever seen in this lifetime.
Maybe I should start seeing people again?...NOPE. No. That would actually be a nightmare.
Without much of a second glance at me, he walks away and leaves me wondering who he even was. I've been by this hallway multiple times in the past few days and never even saw him moving in. Maybe he doesn't even live here. Shrugging, I make sure to check that my phone isn't broken and put my headphones in to listen to some music.

Surprisingly, after class I am still in a fairly okay mood and decide to go to the small coffee shop, Gabby's Coffee and Bakery, to just sit and read for a while. After the barista takes my order, I head to a more hidden corner table and settle down, taking out my book and reading right off of where I last ended.
I must have been there for a good hour and a half before packing up and heading back to my dorm to change and go for a run. Now imagine my surprise when I see that June is standing outside my door contemplating whether or not to knock. Walking up to her without her sensing that I was there I say, "Hey June. Are you looking for someone?" "Holy shit!" she yelps, holding her hand over her chest as she takes a few deep breaths trying to calm herself. Letting out a small laugh I say, "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
Once she calms down she smiles, "I just wanted to see if you'd like to go to this party with me later tonight? And I also wanted to apologize for my brother being an asshole the other day. He can be pretty dumb sometimes," she says with hopeful eyes and holding her crossed fingers up as if wishing I will say yes.
As I think it over for a second contemplating the pros and cons, I nod before saying, "Sure, I'd love to. But what should I wear and where should we meet?" Tapping her chin, she looks deep in thought for a second. Finally, she answers by saying, "How about you come over, we get ready together, pregame a little, and then head out with my brother? I promise that this time he'll be nice."
After choosing to go along with her game plan, I invite her inside as I pack a duffel with an outfit, some shoes, makeup, and a curling iron. As I finish putting the last thing in my duffel, I walk into my room where I had left June and see her looking around at all my decorations. I had pictures hanging on one side of my room and fairy light lining two others.
She was currently looking at the picture of me with my sister standing on the Golden State Bridge with arms wrapped around each other while we smiled whole heartedly at the camera that was being held by my ex-best friend Corrie.
