Midnight Rain // Aemond Targaryen // Aegon Targaryen out now!
WELCOME TO ALFEA!
A pamphlet for prospective students on our very first Orientation Day
The castle of Alfea was built long ago as a place dedicated to educating young fairies and encouraging the spirit of community between those who possess different fairy magics. A hundred years later, the Specialists' Hall was added, the military division where those who are not fairies—but who are our allies—can be trained in the arts of war. Whether you are a Specialist or a fairy, whether your fairy magic is water, earth, light, mind, technology, fire, or air, today we welcome you to join this ancient tradition! Walk the grounds of Alfea, discover the maze, ramble through the woods (please do not get too close to the Barrier), and begin your journey of self-discovery within these timeless stone halls.
SAFETY NOTICE:
*Don't venture near the East Wing, as it is in a state of disrepair.*Don't touch any of the plants in the greenhouse without Professor Harvey's direct supervision. Many of these plants are magical or poisonous. Or magically poisonous.
*Don't ask a Specialist to fight with you, as they may take your head clean off.
*Don't underestimate magics you are not familiar with. You may be an Earth Fairy, able to command all growing things in the ground, but a Water Fairy can drown you, and a Light Fairy can blind you. Remember, it's important to stay respectful of others. Our vision for Alfea is harmony among all.
THIS SECTION IS FOR FIRST WORLD FAIRIES AND CHANGELINGS ONLY. FEEL FREE TO SKIP IF YOU ARE FROM SOLARIA, ERAKLYON, ETC.
This realm must seem very different to those of you from the human world, with magic instead of electricity, and powerful kings and queens instead of presidents and prime ministers. Let me assure you of the first question everybody asks—we do have the internet. Though it isn't powered like your internet, you can connect, and your phones will work here.
You can even call home!

"Magic lives in the very fabric of nature. And here in our circle of stone, it's magnified." Uri explained as she walked around the group. "The Vessel tests your ability to channel that magic. Later, you may learn to connect with other elements, but your first year is all about the element you were born with." Uri declared as the students gathered around the stone circle. A stone basin resting in the middle. Uri looked around it was usually easy to tell the types of fairies apart. They screamed out earthy hippy or blue blue waters.
"Earth." Uri nodded for an earth student to step up "Soil, sand, rock, and all manner of plant life."
"Water. The lakes and oceans of the world, or the molecules that exist in all organisms around us. "
"The mind. Thoughts, memories, dreams."
There was a mystical twinkling in the air as the mind fairy stepped forward. Uri felt her trying to access her mind her emotions but uri was skilled in all sorts of magic. She blocked her out easily.
"Air. Speed, temperature, sound. Its power and electrical properties". Uri went on.
"Whatever your element, the emotions underlying it are the same for all fairies." A fire fairy was next and Uri was ready to be impressed. She was biased and loved fire but the girl exhale sharply as she couldnt get even the littest of flames to light.
"Open yourself up to the magic of the world around you". Uri instructed and the flames sputtering in her hand as uri stepped closer. "Push past your doubts" Another sharp inhale as she couldnt get it as easily as the other students had. She could hear the students around her whispering and murmuring. She assumed they were saying how she was a failure not a real fairy. Uri glanced around the group. This fairy hadnt been taught at all. Must have been from the mortal worlds. She couldnt get her powers working. It distracted her making her little sputtering flame go away.
"Focus on clear, positive feelings." Uri instructed
"Why's it taking so long?" She demanded
"How about your parents? Focus on how much you love them?" Another student offered kindly and Uri chuckled. She held no love for her family. That would never work for her as it wasnt working for the fairy in front of her now.
It's not working."Stop thinking." Uri insturcted "Magic comes from..."
"Emotions." She sassed putting her hands down and uri chuckled "I've been listening. I know what I'm supposed to do." She added quietly
"Yes but knowing and doing are very different" Uri agreed
"This is a disaster. " One if the students sniggered
"It's not happening. Can you please move on?" She sassed Uri
"It's only the first day". Uri reminded her. She didnt like children they were sassy and talked back and didnt try their hardest. This little fire fairy was letting everyone eyes on her clouded her true goals of axcessing her abilities.
"I'm either nearly killing everyone, or I can barely light a match." She spat back and Uri chuckled.
"You just need a clear mind. Distraction can cause magic to be erratic." Uri explained
But the little fire fairy stomped back around joining the outer circle.
"Or quit. You wont last long in my class if you dont follow orders." Uri warned and the fire fairy stared back at her, arms crossed over her chest a snarl on her lips.
"Fire." Uri declared. "My favorite". She held up a hand. "Most people normal people" she added with a wink "think fire is the most dangerous but any one of your gifts can cause alot of damange in a short time if you know how to use it. Or if you don't." Uri added looking to the angry fire fairy. "We need to learn control. All of you. Before the real fun can begin."
