Warnings: cussing, angst

She awoke to an empty bed. The sun shone brightly through the window, causing her head to pound in pain. She sat up, surveying her surroundings. She recognized she was back in the hotel room but the events from last night were foggy. It didn't help that Dottore was nowhere in sight. If it wasn't for the headache she was experiencing, she would've thought she was still dreaming.

She got off the bed and sluggishly walked into the bathroom. She grabbed the glass on the side of the sink, put it under the faucet, filling it up. She spared no time bringing it to her lips, drinking all of the water quickly, in hopes of calming her head.

Just as she put the cup down, a click of a door could be heard. Dottore entered the room with a plate of food in his hand. He noticed the empty bed and called out. "Y/N? You in the bathroom?" She appeared in the doorway to the bathroom. He saw how terrible she looked. "Were you throwing up in there?"

"No, just getting water." She lazily walked back over to the bed to lay back down. "Did you get that for me?" She asked, pointing at the plate of food.

"Yep." He proudly said. "I thought you'd want food when you woke up so I decided to go and get it for you. Although I was hoping to wake you up with it."

"Thank you." She grabbed the plate from him and started digging in. "So what do you have planned for us today?" She said with her mouth full of food, not caring about her slobbish appearance.

He was slightly relieved that she was too drunk to remember the events of the previous night, not wanting to explain to her who the redheaded man was. "Well, I was thinking. What are your thoughts on a picnic?"

"That sounds nice! Where are you thinking?" She asked continuing to eat her food.

"I was thinking on Starsnach cliff. It's the mountain right above where we swam yesterday." He told her. A perfect place to get the feeling he wanted off his chest.

She groaned. "It's such a long walk." She flopped back onto the bed.

"We can go somewhere else if you want." He suggested, "But it does have an amazing view, and I've been really wanting to take you there."

She groaned yet again, she can tell he really wants this and she didn't have the heart to tell him no. "Fine, but I want to go to that big statue of Barbatos first. I wanna see it up close."

"Deal!" He happily cheered, leaning over and kissing her.

After finishing up her food, she started feeling much better. The headache from the previous hangover had already faded, and she felt less nauseous. They both started to get ready for the day. Right as they were about to step out of the hotel, a Fatuus ran up to Dottore. Panic showed on his face as he quickly told Dottore. "There's a fight in the dining hall."

Dottore, notably annoyed, replied with a snarky. "So? Take care of it then."

"We tried, but it's too big! If it gets any more out of hand the building might collapse." He pleaded.

With a sigh, Dottore turned to Y/N, apologetically. "You head to the statue without me. I'll meet you there, this will only take a minute." Not wanting to deal with any of the childish Fatuus, wanting all of his time to be spent with her.

"Yeah, you should take care of that. Be careful!" She reassured him before turning around and leaving the hotel without him.

Even though she loved Dottore, she was happy to be away from him, even for a brief moment. He could be overbearing at times and it suffocated her. So she was going to enjoy these next few moments to herself to the fullest. Happily, she walked up the steps that lead to the massive Barbatos statue. Too much in her own head to notice the figure that loomed behind, following.
