Hidden Talents

Chapter 12

****ATTENTION******

Okay so there have been changes made to the entire story. So, if you haven't reread the story within the past 24 hours then I suggest you do or you will have no idea who characters are and such. But otherwiseeeee here's a NEW chapter!!!! Yay finally!! I am so giddy with excitement, but also soooo tired because I have been writing and editing for 12 straight hours. My head feels like its gonna explode and the muscles in my arm are doing this weird twitchy thing and it hurts soooo bad. But enough of my woes, enjoy the new chapter!!

As I walk backstage I see JJ pacing furiously fast and talking to herself. As I approach, I try to gauge the situation.

"Hey pretty lady, how's it going?" I say slowly, like talking to a rabid animal.

"I'm fine. I'm great. I'm Mary freaking Poppins!" She says as she flails her arms above her head. Professor Stone comes out from behind the curtain,

"Janey you're up." I'm about to tell him to give her a minute when she answers first,

"Alright, let's do this." She is the picture of calm. A complete 180 from what I had just experience a nanosecond ago. She gives me a small smile and heads out to the stage.

I'm still trying to get over the dramatic change when the music begins. I'm very familiar with the song because Mother is a Celine Dion enthusiast. But when Janey starts singing I am completely mesmerized. Her voice is literally what I would imagine to be perfection. And by the way she gives her performance you could never tell that she was crazy nervous 30 seconds before getting on stage.

I peek at the audience from behind the curtain. It seems like this is the place people go during free hours just to listen. I see Fitz, Paul, Tessa, Brent, and Matt all just watching JJ completely entranced with her. Matt looks like he is gonna start drooling any minute. I look over to where Jessie is sitting at she is seething. I bite back a smile to keep from laughing; I continue to scan through the crowd. There are a lot of people. As JJ finishes her song with an epic Celine Dion note the whole crowd literally goes wild with applause. She does a bow and then comes swiftly off the stage to where I am standing.

"Holy crap. JJ I didn't know you were that good!! You have a set of pipes on you!" I tell my friend, giddy from watching her perform. She laughs and then shrugs, clearly modest about her talent.

"Charlotte, head on out there," Stone pops his head through the curtain.

I walk out with a guitar in my hand and sit on the stool someone had brought in between sets. I tap on the microphone in front of me and say into the mic and say, "Hi my name is Charlotte and I'm singing Feel Again by OneRepublic."

"YEAH CHARLIE!" Matt screams from the back of the auditorium and there is a low rumble of laughter. I roll my eyes and begin to strum at the electric guitar in my hands.

I spend the first part of the song focusing on playing my guitar, but then remember this is for a performance so I put on my "performer's face" and look out into the crowd.
