2 - What If...

Season 1's story was different in that Ej and Gina actually became the leads in the musical.

It is finally another new school year that is gonna be so different. New friends, new teachers, new relationships and it would be so good. Three friends arrive at East High School where the actual movies were shot for the iconic High School Musical franchise. "Guys this is it junior year and it's gonna be the best year ever" Ricky says as he puts his arms around his best friend and girlfriend "eeee I can't wait babe. There's even a rumor that there's gonna be a new drama teacher" Gina says "yeah since the other one was horrible" Big Red says "ok, but this is gonna be our year with my two best friends" Ricky says as he kisses Gina on the cheek "hey Imma get a head start to put in stuff in my locker, I'll meet at yours?" Gina asks "yeah of course" Ricky says as Gina kisses him and leaving the two with Ricky blushing "you look so cheerful dude" Big Red says "yeah I am, Gina has been so great and all that" Ricky says "what happens when you crash into Ni-" Big red bout to say until Ricky covers his mouth "dude no. We're over. Our friendship and relationship has ended. I finally moved on. Let's go" Ricky says as the two head to his locker. Who Big Red was talking about was Ricky's childhood friend and old crush, Nini Salazar-Roberts. They go way back being best friends since they were born and then both became each other's first kiss, then feelings grew as they dated from their freshman year to sophomore but then Ricky did something or more like say something to Nini that they had an argument since Nini was leaving for theater camp for a month and didn't talk since then. Soon a later Gina drops in as being new to the state. It was hard to be moving to new different places but after meeting Ricky on how much they have in common and actually going to be at the school where HSM took place then maybe this could be a good place. Over in the school, Nini was showing Kourtney the new boy that she met when going to camp, "girl he is fine" Kourtney says looking at a picture on Nini's phone "I know and he actually treats me good" Nini says grabbing her phone and looking at the picture "and what about you know who" Kourtney says "I don't care about him anymore, that is done. If he sees me with Ej then fine, he'll see that I move on with someone better" Nini says "slay girl. I even heard that he actually moved on as well with some new girl that moved here" Kourtney says "oh wow ok. Anyways let's go" Nini says, closing her locker and heading to the gym since there was an announcement. It was true that there was a new drama teacher and she is legit gonna be putting on an actual remake to the movie and auditions are after school. When it became lunch, Kourtney was telling a crazy story about her costume designing incident as Ej was invested "wow that's crazy Kourtney" Ej says "I know" she answers back "hey babe I was thinking that I go all out Troy Bolton jersey and you go Vanessa Hudgens red skirt" Ej says showing a picture of Vanessa Hudgens iconic Gabriela red skirt "I would but like what are the chances that I actually I'm gonna get the lead role" Nini says "babe of course you are, you're a star" Ej says as Nini smiles to lean on kissing him. Across the cafeteria, Ricky and Big Red were sitting on a lunch where they had perfect view of Nini and her new boyfriend, Ej Caswell, popular senior and captain of the waterpolo team, "I can't believe that she's dating Ej Caswell" Big Red says "I know dude" Ricky says "the crazy popular senior" Big Red continues "I know" Ricky says starting to get annoyed "captain of the waterpolo team" Big Red finishes "Dude I know!" Ricky says already done "you're not..." Big Red says as Ricky getting the hint "what oh no way I'm with Gina and I'm happy with Gina" Ricky says that Gina heads into their direction "hey babe" Gina says "hey you" Ricky says as he kisses her cheek "hey I was wondering if you would like to also audition for the musical" Gina asks Ricky but Ricky was too busy looking at Nini being all flirty with Ej "Ricky. Ricky!" Gina yells finally getting Ricky's attention "what happened" Ricky says "I was asking if you wanted to audition for the musical. Are you okay" Gina says "huh yeah I'm good I just need to do the restroom. I'll be right back" Ricky says as he kisses Gina, then getting up to head out of the cafeteria. What he didn't know was Nini looking at him as he left. In a class, Ricky realized how Gina was suspecting of why he wasn't listening. He wanted to make it up for her, "hey G" Ricky says "hmm" as Gina looks at him "hey I'm sorry I was not paying attention to you during lunch. What were you saying again" Ricky says "I was saying that if it would be cool that we both went for the lead roles for the musical. Not just having a romance right now but also have a showmance for the show" gina says "gina I would love to but I'm not really a big theater kid and it's just weird how people just randomly break into music" Ricky says "oh umm ok. Well you are gonna be there for support right?" Gina asks "I'll see" Ricky says as Gina had a sad face leaving the classroom as the bell rang "no G wait" Ricky tried to say but she was gone. Ricky's jealousy and past memories are getting into his head and needs to find a way to make it up to Gina and the only thing it's gonna be is to actually audition but he hasn't really remembered the movie. So Ricky decides to head to the computer lab to actually practice. In the auditorium, everyone was all warming up. Ej actually came in a Troy Bolton basketball Jersey like the movie but sadly Nini didn't do so but it didn't matter to Ej. A few minutes later, auditions began starting off with some of the dancers. Gina was one of the contestants and she was able to pull off amazing moves. Ej and Nini saw how amazing she was especially being in the front, Ej for a second was being a little mesmerized until Nini looked up to him and Ej stopped looking at gina and paying more attention to his girlfriend. They finished and Nini went up to her, "wow you are so outstanding" Nini says "aww thanks you're cute. Gina" gina says as she puts out her hand for nini "nini" Nini says shaking her hand "oh you're nini. The one that broke up with Ricky. I'm Ricky's girlfriend. But anyways hopefully you do good. Not to be a little cocky but I've been the lead 4 times in a role" gina says as she leaves Nini a little annoyed. Then the single auditions began one by one singing a song from the movie. Ej was up first Nini looking at him with a smile being proud. Gina was a little mesmerized by how attractive he was. Those arms, and his voice are very attractive, oh my god what is happening, gina thought to herself. Over at Ricky's, he was watching the movie but when he saw that he was late for auditions, he didn't even turn off the computer and just booked it all the way to the theater. Gina sang and again Ej was being mesmerized almost if like something about her is pulling him in but right now he has to stop those things. Finally it was Nini's turn but as she was about to start, Ricky comes in barging into the doors "am I late, am I late" Ricky screams out "Gina couldn't believe it he was here but it made her smile but Nini however was a different story "no no no. You get out of here" Nini says "I don't care I'm not listening to you. I'm just here to peacefully audition and hangout with my girlfriend" Ricky says "I don't care. You hate musicals. You don't care about anything Ricky. All you care about is yourself" Nini says as her and Ricky were giving the death stare at each other "ok everyone relax. Nini you would sing. Late boy, you're after. Now be quiet" Miss Jenn says as Nini sings "let's go babe" Ej screamed out. She was singing pretty good but couldn't focus since Ricky is there. As Nini finishes off then it became Ricky's. Nini went to sit next to Ej as he put his arm over her shoulder grabbing his guitar to sing. As Ricky finished him and Big Red left but Nini catching up to him "hey, what are you doing" Nini says "I already told you that I'm just there to audition" Ricky says "bull crap Ricky. You hate musicals, why all of sudden now you want to audition. You were so spoiled and want the attention" Nini says "and you were just too selfish to not realized I wasn't ready to say it" Ricky says "well I don't care about it anymore. I was heartbroken but now I've finally moved on that someone actually makes me happy" Nini says as a whole crowd was following carrying the paper of who got who. Nini followed seeing Ej there "babe I got the lead" Ej says "Omg I'm so proud" Nini says as she checked her name "I'm Taylor" Nini says a little sad "hey it's fine. You'll do good" Ej says. Ricky heads to the crowd as Big Red looks to see what his best friend got "dude you actually got a role. You're gonna be Chad" Big Red says "what" Nini says "Babe who did I get" Gina says seeing the paper "omg I got the lead" gina says excited "who did you get" Gina asks "I got Chad" Ricky says "oh then who got Troy" Gina asks "Ej did" Ashlyn says "what" Gina says annoyed. She doesn't want to be a lead with her boyfriend's ex's boyfriend and she hates seniors, but she would show to everyone and this senior what she's made of . Ej was telling the same thing to himself, he wanted Nini to be with him, his girlfriend, but instead has to flirt and be a lead with his girlfriend's ex's girlfriend but he won't care because seniors don't follow sophomores.
