Us vs Governing
Global trade needs to be reigned in. There is no need to buy goods from any other country. Every country should be able to create what the population needs within its own borders.
Doing this will also increase a county's revenue as money within the country stays within that country. The only goods that should be imported are resources, specialty products and food (for those countries without)
We really need to get away from the monetary system but to what I'm not sure as no matter what someone will figure out how steal from or abuse it.
Money is also at the heart of most criminal/illegal activities.
*Take away the goal for money and what will people desire? The same thing we all appreciate, good feelings, family, friends, food and fun.
In the early 1900s as the industrial age is chugging along the idea of Technocracy came up.
Knowing the earth's population will continue to grow and workplaces would become more machine oriented, they figured there'd be fewer jobs for people. Preventing the general population from being unemployed, homeless and starving thought a 16hr work week would be best. Allowing others a chance for employment and more leisure time.
To make governments more efficient wanted to put minds in charge. Our leaders would be doctors, engineers and scientists as politicians refer to and pay them in times of need anyway. This would also lessen questionable individuals that seek potions just for their own gains or power.
With excess leisure time artists in all their creative fields would be more regarded for their contributions.
Knowing all require food, clothing and housing they thought in a Technocracy system a system of credits should replace money. Which in our present times we have it in a couple ways, credit cards and online currency; bitcoin.
Technocracy in an ideal world of honest people would be ideal.
However most people are not honest, not even with themselves.
The big leisure issue I wondered about in this type of society, vacations. If everyone earns the same to support their life and has five days a week off what do they do with it. Are out of town or country vacations possible? Would we be granted some sort of vacation vouchers based on the years of work: first year a shopping excursion. Second year a camping trip. Third year a hotel stay in different city same province or state. Seventh year a vacation to neighboring country. Tenth year a visit to a different continent. Just my own thoughts there.
The other thing I wasn't sure about in a Technocracy society how would people acquire extravagant items; motorboat, plane, camping trailer or upgrades to a home.
Of course one might say we don't need those things tainting our wildernesses anyway.
It's impossible to make everyone happy, even if you gave everyone a million dollars there'd be those that would be unhappy; it'll screw up our economy, so and so is wasting their money, I had to work for mine how come they get it for doing nothing, my million isn't worth the same as another country's million.
With the way the Canadian government runs we'd be better off dealing with computers to make our decisions, at least things would get done. I made a comment to a Chinese person while visiting their country, "Our Canadian government isn't much different then yours. You may get a vote but you're still getting a leader who's there for their own gains. At least your Chinese government knows how to get things done. Our Canadian government can't even run our post office or railways I don't understand why year after year people keep voting them in."
The thought came from projects crossing both countries. The Chinese were completing a high-speed railway running north and south. The Canadian government was considering a new underground oil pipeline running west to east.
Canada requires a high-speed rail across the country, reducing use of fossil fuel for our passenger trains. The cost to take the train a few hundred kilometers is higher than driving. If one needs to travel across country its cheaper and faster to fly. The distance between east and west coast is 6000kms.
Instead of burying another potentially dangerous pipeline across country and under countless waterways why not incorporate a pipeline into the superstructures of a high-speed rail. The pipeline being above ground can be easily surveyed for leakage or concerns. The cost of building would be off set by the cost of creating or renting out the pipeline. The superstructures could also incorporate hydro, communication lines, water, even liquid waste or sewage. The electrical incorporated will be required for the rail anyway. Then the people would have a 'greener way' to travel across country.
When the government went ahead with the pipeline project protests and blockades popped up halting the project. The protests were primarily our great First Nations people taking a stand.
Thank you wonderful people, keep fighting the good fight. You do endeavor to persevere.
When the G8 governments raised gas prices it killed the pipeline project as building costs increased too greatly. Maybe the best thing that came out of the increased oil and gas.
Unfamiliar with most other governments and systems in place around our world wonder who really has it the best. Iceland, where the population is so small they can easily compensate all citizens when wronged. Holland, that seems to take a bleeding hearts and artists stance on a better functioning society. Sometimes I think the communist states have the essential idea right that all are treated equally however corruption skews it.
So many tiring of government and broken systems consider giving up 'civilization' and retreat to the wilderness for peace and quiet. Back to the way the indigenous people were living. Taking only what you need from the land and enjoying nature.
For now there's little most can do to make our governments better.
