"Would you jump off of this cliff if I told you to?"
"Asking me that is stupid you know? Of course I would."
Though I have answered his question, he seemed angry.
"That's very idiotic of you. Carelessly throwing your life away just for... me. Do you not see a reason for you to live anymore?" he asks, mad, but it laces with concern.
"Yes, if you're not in it." I answered back, slowly looking at him in the eye. His eyes widened.
There he saw, those lifeless, and dull black eyes, staring back at him. He should have known, the both of them are here after all.
Standing on a intimidating cliff, with an abyss following, nobody knows whatever it is that's down there, what lurks under those daunting darkness. She didn't care- no. They didn't care.
"I can't see a reason for me to live on, if you aren't in it too... But you need to let go." gripping my hand as if I were to disappear, and I did the same.
"Want to bet money on who dies first?", avoiding what he said, I offered him a ghostly smile and an eyebrow raised to show that I was challenging him.
"Stop avoiding it, Laura. You're hurting yourself, and I don't want tha-"
"-Say, Zeno, do you think there's a sea below? or is it just a never ending darkness?", I cut off, looking below that is filled with nothingness, desperate to forget the things he kept on saying.
"You've spent too much time in here, it's time to wake up." Zeno forced, as he made me face his way, looking at me with a firm gaze, "Darling, it's time. Wake up." repeating what he had said earlier but with a softer tone.
"I-I don't want to. I want to stay here, with you. Don't you agree with me?" Desperate to hide the tears that threatened to spill, and the whimper that wants to escape your mouth as you look at him in confusion.
"I absolutely love to be with you. I want you to stay here with me too, but I'm afraid it is not possible." Zeno smiles softly as he continues, "You have a whole life ahead of you out there, and I do not wish for you to miss those wonderful things."
"But that would mean nothing if you aren't there! Please Zeno, I beg of you, don't go. Let me stay.." tears dripping down my face as I hugged him tight. I don't want to let go. I can't. "I feel safe with you here, I can't lose you too."
Setting his warm hand at the top of my head, shushing me softly, his fingers threaded across my cheeks to wipe away the tears I've been crying. Tugging me closer to his warm embrace with his other hand, to ease the shaky hiccups that escaped with the whimper I've been holding in.
"My love, you truly are brave." Placing a soft kiss on my forehead, "Although I cannot live with you outside of this paradise that you have created, we shall meet inside here and continue our story like we always do every night." looking at me with sadness visible in his forest green eyes. "I believe there is another world, a better world, waiting for us. And I shall wait for you there, if ever that time comes. But for now, let us meet in your dreams at midnight."
"How are you so sure that we'll see each other again? What if I can't find you?", trembling slightly, the thought of not being able to dream about him made me scared. Already feeling as if a half of my soul was gone, and can never be whole.
"You can and you will. Because, you found me. And," flicking my forehead slightly, "You're just that stubborn."
"Zeno, don't go..."
Pecking my knuckles, he gives my hand a light squeeze, and looks back into my eyes,
"It's time to wake up, love."
"Wai-" In attempt to desperately reach out to him, I cling to him tight, scared of what's bound to happen next. With Zeno doing the same as tears escaped his eyes, saying his last words that will forever be imprinted in the back of my mind,
"I'll wait for you."
