Buzz.

Your iPhone lit up and vibrated, waking you up from your deep slumber. You sighed softly, rolling over in your bed, almost falling off the edge onto the carpeted floor.

You felt around on your bed for you phone before you found it. You grabbed it and looked at it as your home screen lit up, a picture of you and Gareth from graduation appearing. You slid up and quickly typed in your passcode: 4273. You unlocked your phone and looked for the notification that had woken you up.

It was a text from the one and only: Gareth.

garebear <3: morning, princess! i hope you didn't forget about our plans today. i'll pick you up in about 30 minutes. also, my parents are going away on a romantic vacation (ew) for the whole week sooo be sure to bring some clothes with you so you can stay over. see you soon! <3

You smiled to yourself slightly as you read over the text.

How could you forget about your plans with him today? It was the first official day of Summer, all the high school graduation shit and early college prep was finally done. It was the first day you didn't have a care in the world until you moved for university, and you planned on spending it with your best friend. You typed back quickly, hitting send right away.

(y/n): of course i didn't forget! however, thanks for the wake up call, i was most definitely still sleeping, haha. and sounds good, i will pack a bag to bring with me. see you soon! :)

You sat up and stretched, before you hopped off of your bed and walked over to your bathroom. You started the water in the shower and decided to pack your bag while you waited for the water to get hot. You grabbed your floral pink cheer bag that had your name embroidered on it and stuffed it full with your bikini, shirts, shorts, pajamas and even leggings if needed. Hawkins always gets colder at night, even in the summer; and you didn't know what Gareth had planned.

He kept telling you that he had a whole list planned out for your last summer together in Hawkins before moving out into the "real world".

You glanced back at your closet looking at all of your sweatshirts hanging there, wondering if you should pack one. You eventually decided it didn't matter; if anything you could steal one of Gareth's hoodies (which meant you got to 1. Wear his clothes and 2. Smell his cologne; so it was pretty much a win win situation for you). You threw some deodorant and perfume on the top of the clothes and zipped it shut.

You checked your phone again to see a response from Gareth.

garebear <3: damn, (y/n), it's like 10am what do you mean wake up call? we have a whole list of summer things to do, remember?! you can't sleep your whole summer away! :( i need to spend time with you before you leaveeee!

You set the phone down one your night stand and walked back into the bathroom, stripping your clothes off before you stepped into the steaming hot shower. You let the water wash over you as you let out a deep sigh. You washed your hair and body before you stood there more, letting the warm water hit your back. You turned the water off and grabbed a towel, wrapping it around your body. You brushed and blowdried your hair before you walked into your bedroom, towel still hugging your body.

"Well, good morning to me," Gareth said, smirking as you walked into your room. He sat on your bed with his elbows on his knees, his head resting on his hands as his blue eyes stared at you. You sighed and shook your head, walking towards your closet.

"It amazes me how you always seem to find your way inside of my house. More so, why you're always on my bed," you teased, flipping through your clothes. "Also, I'm glad I walked in here with a towel on, usually I walk in here naked."

"Best friend code, duh. I ring the doorbell your mom lets me in, no questions asked. Half the time she doesn't even know if you're home but still lets me in. Perks of being her second child." He replied, still sitting on your bed. "And, you definitely could have come out naked, I wouldn't have minded." He smirked and winked at you. You grabbed some clothes from your closet and walked towards the bathroom door, looking back at him.

"Whatever. I'm going to get dressed, I'll be right back." You said, closing the door behind you.

"Wait, what if I wanted to watch? I missed out on the first show, maybe I deserve one. " You heard his response through the door and just shook your head, smiling to yourself softly.

Good old flirty Gareth.

You got dressed in a pair of light blue jean shorts, and a simple short sleeve black crop top, you paired your outfit with your black converse. You fixed your hair in the mirror before you applied some light eyeliner and mascara to make your eyes pop. You grabbed your eyeliner and mascara and left the bathroom, walking back to your bag. You bent over and shoved in your makeup, zipping the bag back up before you turned back to look at Gareth.

"Sorry you missed the show," you said, walking to your bed taking a seat next to him.

"I kinda just got one," he replied, you hit his arm slightly and looked at him. You smiled softly and shook your head.

"I hate you."

"Oh please, you love me. What're you gonna do when you finally leave me and Hawkins behind?" You shrugged, looking at your hands. You picked at the chipping light pink nail polish that sat on your fingernails.

You didn't know what you were going to do. This would be the first year you weren't at the same school as him, let alone the same state and you didn't know what to do or how to think.

Gareth frowned knowing exactly what you were thinking about. Wrapping his arm around your shoulder, he pulled you close to him and kissed your temple softly. "Don't worry, (y/n). It'll be ok. We have all summer to spend with each other and you know I'll come visit you when Corroded Coffin isn't playing." You looked up at him and smiled slightly. "Plus I'm always a phone call, text or even FaceTime call away. Unless I'm on stage, I'll respond right away. And if you do happen to catch me in the middle of a show you know I'll respond as soon as I can." He smiled, pulling you close to him again, you laid your head on his shoulder slightly and took a deep breath.

"Here's to summer." You said softly.
