Nighttime was when people indulged themselves. The country's best bar was crowded with people, and all the seats on the first floor where the dance floor was located were taken up. Under the dazzling lights and deafening music, people moved and wiggled.
This was a scene totally opposite of the VIP rooms upstairs. Within the super VIP private room, bathed in an orange hue, slow and elegant instrumental music played. Fruit, snacks, and, of course, alcohol adorned the coffee table. Although not many bottles of alcohol were on the tabletop, any of the served red wine, white wine, and beer would cost an average person an arm and a leg. Even an empty bottle of any of these alcoholic beverages could be sold for an exorbitant price.
In the spacious private room, two men sat on the long sofa while three women leaned within a man's embrace. These women were models of the country.
"Abhay, why is Mr. Aryan not here yet? Every time we call him out for a gathering, he only appears three out of ten times. It's a little too hard to invite him out," one of the women in a shiny red one-piece dress, sitting on the sofa's right side, said while pouting.
Holding up his glass, Abhay rolled his eyes at this woman called Kamini. "Didn't you say before that you would wait as long as it takes to meet him?"
"Cough!" Kamini rubbed her nose sheepishly.
The refined-looking man sitting next to her laughed with amusement at her embarrassment and questioned, "What is Aryan up to nowadays, anyway? I haven't seen him for so long." They were all friends in the business circle.
"What else can he be busy with? It can only be that new real estate company he recently acquired," Abhay casually replied and downed his drink.
"Isn't that just an acquisition? Why would Aryan busy himself with that for such a long time?" The bespectacled man was perplexed.
The other person in the private room was similar to Abhay in that he was also a long-time friend of Aryan. However, only Abhay was really close to the man. The other one could only be considered Aryan's good friend and was not that close with him. In fact, they would only meet up like this when they were free to drink, play golf, exchange information, et cetera.
Nonetheless, Aryan rarely attended any of their gatherings.
Of course, it went without saying that he was able to be in the same social circle as Aryan and Abhay due to their wealthy and powerful families. Although their families were slightly lower than the Singhanias, they were still among the top few young successful names within the country.
"I don't know, but since last Monday, he has become like a crazy person, working day and night without caring for anything else. When there is no work, he always hits the gym. It looks like he is running..." Before Abhay could finish his words, the VIP room's door was pushed open from the outside, and Aryan walked in.
"Aryan?" Himanshu was stunned when he saw the man he was just nagging about appear before them. In his stunned state, he forgot how to behave himself.
With a dark face, Aryan strode to the largest sofa in the middle. He then wordlessly picked up a glass, which was already filled with alcohol, and downed it in one gulp. The rest were dumbstruck at seeing such an abnormal Aryan.
"What is wrong with him?" Himanshu whispered to Abhay, looking confused.
Abhay looked at the way Aryan drank his liquor by himself with a brooding face. He was also unaware of the reason behind Aryan's behavior.
"I don't know," Abhay replied curtly. "You know how he is. He never talks about his problems to us."
"Aryan, you should talk about it if something is bothering you this much. You never behaved like this. Even if you can't say it to us, you can share it with your family," Himanshu suggested.
