"Then let's go home. I cooked for you tonight."
The two walked slowly towards the car, hand in hand.
"What did you cook?" Sarah asked, shaking his hand playfully, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
She was eager to taste whatever he had prepared.
"You'll find out when we get home."
Still keeping me on edge!
Sarah didn't mind his teasing and failed to notice the faint smile that appeared on his face as he looked at her.
As soon as they entered the house, Sarah was greeted by the rich, sweet aroma of Paneer Butter Masala and Rajma Rice. A smile spread across her face as she quickly made her way to the dining room, eager to see what he had made.
She lifted the lid, and there it was: Paneer Butter Masala, Rajma Rice, and Chapatis—all perfectly prepared. Sarah couldn't believe it. Her favorite dishes, all cooked by him, something she never would have expected! Her heart swelled with affection and gratitude.
With a craving in her eyes, Sarah smiled and said, "I'll serve the dinner!"
Aryan took the lid from her hand and gently set it down, his gaze falling on her fingers. His eyes narrowed when he noticed that the tips of her two fingers, which had been holding the hot lid, were reddened from the heat.
"Go and sit down," he said, his voice firm.
Sarah instantly understood why his expression had darkened. Was he angry?
She rolled her eyes playfully, then raised her hand to gently press her reddened fingertips to his lips.
"It won't hurt anymore like this," she said, her voice soft and reassuring.
As her words lingered in the air, Aryan's expression shifted. His eyes darkened, and before she could process it, he swiftly pulled her closer, his hand landing on her waist. The sudden move caught her off guard, and she found herself pressed against the cold surface of the table.
A fleeting thought of him claiming her here on this table crossed her mind—one that made her cheeks flush with heat. She quickly shook it off, but the warmth in her face remained.
"Don't want to have dinner?" Aryan leaned in close to her neck, his breath warm against her skin as he chuckled softly, "Huh?"
Sarah felt a pang of guilt in her chest. She instinctively raised her hand to push him away, her voice trembling slightly, "I'm sorry."
She realized how thoughtless she had been—after all the effort he'd put into cooking, she had still been teasing him. She truly deserved whatever mood he was in.
Was he really going to do something here, right now? Was that even possible? But, then again... she was starving. If he took too long, she might faint from hunger!
Ugh, stop thinking like that! She scolded herself. It was just a fleeting thought. She was truly spoiled by him!
Suddenly, Aryan released her waist, leading her gently toward the dining table. He then turned to serve the food.
Wait... what?
She stared at him, bewildered. Was he really letting her go like this? His usual domineering nature seemed to have disappeared.
The more she thought about it, the stranger it felt. Even the sight of her favorite dishes didn't seem to stir her appetite as it normally would. Why was he just quietly eating and glancing at her every now and then?
"What? Didn't you want to eat these for a long time?" Aryan asked, noticing her sudden lack of enthusiasm. He laughed softly, his voice teasing.
Sarah bit her lip, swallowing the words that threatened to spill out. She almost blurted, "Don't you want to..." but stopped herself. Being around him too much had clearly rubbed off on her in all the wrong ways. She had to stop these thoughts.
