"Risa [Surname], twenty years old, has two siblings, Ichiro and [Name], am I correct?"
You nodded as one of the four village elders read out your file to the other elders, plus the Kazekage and the turbaned man whose name you found out to be Baki. At the mention of your name, the Kazekage's head perked up, giving you a fright.
Oh my god. Does he know me?! Does he recognise me?!
"[Name]?" he murmured questioningly, looking like he was deep in thought. The elder reading the file nodded, and you felt your blood run cold at the prospect of being caught out so early in the process.
"Yes, [Name]. Youngest of the three, at eighteen years old. Skills are unknown. We've barely got anything about her on record. She seems to be the invisible type of girl."
A vein popped on your forehead when the elder unknowingly called you invisible, and everyone looked at you, astounded.
You smiled at them, calmly playing it off.
"Oh, yeah, that'll be [Name], all right," you said, faking a cheerful voice. "I wish she were more out there though. Imagine if she knew that other people called her invisible."
The elders nodded at your remark and continued reading, but stopped once more as Gaara raised his hand.
"Question for Risa," he said loudly. You gulped and nodded.
"Go on?"
"You know your sister, [Name]... her name sounds familiar," he said. "I feel like I know her from somewhere."
Your heart stopped beating as the memory of you trying to befriend Gaara as a child and backfiring flitted into your mind.
"Hey! I'm [Name]! Who are you?" you had ask brightly, standing beside the boy who sat alone on the swing, watching you and the other kids play. Sand drifted around him, as if he were some kind of magnet. He had this weird red marking on his forehead, and the look he gave you was one of pure contempt.
"Why do you want to know?" he growled, looking at you menacingly. You raised an eyebrow and crossed your arms with a pout. You were only about six, but you knew that if anyone talked to you like this then there was bound to be an issue.
"I wanted to see if you'd want to be my friend."
He sneered, and then all of a sudden the sand surrounding him shot at you. You screamed, and upon seeing the commotion, the other kids behind you did the same and began running off, leaving you there to fend for yourself. The sand wrapped itself around your ankle as you tried to back away from the boy, making you trip and fall onto the ground.
"Friend? How's this for friends, huh?!" He cackled and released your ankle, and as soon as you could scramble up, you started running home. As soon as you got there, you told Risa about the situation straight away, prompting her to hug you and stroke your hair as she tried to calm you down.
"It's all right, [Name]. He's a monster anyway."
