Part 22

*Third Person P.O.V*

I'll never let you touch Gaara!

Gaara sat at [Name]'s bedside, her declaration fresh in his mind. It had been a week since he and the others got her back, but it had been a week of waiting. Medical ninja had examined [Name] and said that all her major wounds had been dealt with, and all she needed was bed rest. But now, a week on, [Name] showed no sign of waking up from her endless sleep, and Gaara was beginning to despair. As he looked upon her face, he saw how serene and calm she was, albeit pale and lifeless with wires running in and out of her body. She had been on life support for six days now, but hadn't shown any sign of waking up.

"Lord Kazekage?" Gaara didn't even look up. It was one of the medical nin, probably the head.

"My Lord, I'm afraid there's nothing more we can do for [Name]-san. It's been a week, and she's shown no signs whatsoever of improvement. We have to turn off her life support." Gaara spun around in a flash and had the medical nin by his collar, glaring at him.

"Don't you dare say that!" he shouted. "She can't be- no!" Four shinobi came rushing into the room, all armed and alarmed at the Kazekage's raised voice. One of them was Baki.

"Lord Gaara!" he exclaimed. Gaara let go of the medical ninja and pushed him away.

"Get out." When the five didn't move, Gaara twirled around, anguished.

"I said, GET OUT!" That was enough to have them all run out, fearing the Kazekage's wrath. Gaara returned to [Name]'s bedside, laying his head on her chest.

"This is all my fault, [Name]..." he murmured, closing his eyes. He placed his ear over your chest and listened for your heartbeat. It was faint, but it was there, and that was all the hope Gaara needed.

"If I hadn't turned back in the first place, we would have recovered you earlier. If I hadn't let my emotions get the better of me... you'd still be here. With me. I'm sorry for giving up on you, [Name]. I'm sorry for giving up on you... even though you never gave up on me."

As memories of [Name]'s last stand flashed through Gaara's mind, he began to cry.

"I'm so sorry, [Name]. This is... all my fault! I love you, [Name], and I'm sorry! Please, [Name], don't leave! Come back to me,[Name]! Please!" Now Gaara's holding Y/N by the collar of her hospital garment, and he's shaking her limp body, making her head lull backwards and forwards.

"PLEASE, [NAME]! PLEASE! DON'T LEAVE ME!!" The machine by her side starts to beep frantically, and medical ninja burst into the room.

"LORD KAZEKAGE! NO!" A team of about four or five ninja leapt forward and pried Gaara away from Y/N, causing him to unleash his sand and encase them all.

"GAARA! WHAT THE HELL?!" Gaara turned around, eyes flaring, and saw Naruto standing by the door with his team mates Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi. Sakura ran forward, pushing Gaara out of the way.

"CLEAR THE ROOM!" she yells, rubbing her hands together and forming chakra in between them. When Gaara doesn't move, she turns around and faces him.

"I said, get out!" she yells again, right at the Kazekage. But he's too enraged to see anything, and it's as if a mist has clouded his vision, making him see red. Using his sand, he threw the five ninja he'd encased in it at the wall, sending them right through it. The remaining members of Sakura's team get themselves into battle stances.

"GAARA!" cried out Naruto. "Stop it! STOP!" He ran forward to try and stop the Kazekage, but was merely flicked away by his sand. Gaara turned and faced Sakura, who was busy trying to bring [Name] back.

"GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER!"

"Naruto! We have to keep the Kazekage away from Sakura so she can finish up with [Name]!" exclaims Sasuke, drawing his katana.

"Right! Hey Gaara! You big loser, what are you trying to do, huh? Show us how tough you are? Are you trying to make up for the fact that you couldn't protect your own, huh? Is that why?" taunts Naruto, trying to draw Gaara away from Sakura. It works, and Gaara turns back to Naruto, hissing.

"Come on,Y/N, wake up..." murmurs Sakura, furiously trying to revive the Kazekage's lover. "Come on, [Name], I need you to wake up before Gaara destroys the village!"
