Btw this is a couple of days before the Prologue

The wind blew at Rain's black and white wings, his IceWing spiked tail swaying in the wind. It was trying to put him off balance and throw him out of the sky. But he flapped, again and again, regaining the nice soaring way of flying he was doing before.

He looked down at the sand-coloured shape below him. Jade. His mind whispered. She was his best friend and like a sister to him since they were raised together.

Jade who was a SandWing was relatively SandWing looking. Her scales were dusty beige with flecks of dark brown all down her snout, sail, and talons like someone had thrown dirt at her. Jade's eyes were black like obsidian.

Rain himself was coming from a very different side of dragon-ish-ness. He was a NightWing IceWing hybrid with mostly NightWing features. Rain was black and white, the border being down his spine, on his left was his white side, his talons longer and his claws sharper, his wings tinted blue and more spikey. His right being more NightWing. His body shape being more smooth than sharp like his IceWing side.

The two were coming back from a SandWing market on the Sky Kingdoms border. Now they were flying to the Claws of the Cloud Mountains, where they lived with DreamStalker, their mentor. He had taken their eggs before they'd hatched because their mothers or whatever parents they had didn't really want them. It did seem a little weird, but it was good living conditions compared to parents who didn't want dragonets.

In Rain's talons was a bag, dusty and made of leather. Inside were some things that DreamStalker wanted from the market as well as a few things that Rain wanted for himself wanted. Jade had her own bag of course and they split the things that DreamStalker had requested into their bags along with their own things in the bags they were holding.

The sun was setting behind them and Rain knew that they wouldn't get home before dark. He heard the beating of wings and looked over at Jade.

She waved her dark barbed tail at him and asked, "So, what did you get?" Rain thought about what he'd brought from the market.

"Other than DreamStalker's things?" he asked, smiling at her.

"Obviously." She scoffed, flicking her head back, though there was a sparkle of mischief in her eyes and voice.

"Hmm well let's see.." Rain said, "I got a few things that'll help us with jobs and some snacks that you took and ate before we started flying!" He looked at her with a light-hearted glare.

"Mmmm, But weren't they lovely!" She said while smiling mischievously at the hybrid.

"You act like that IceWing at the jewel shop sometimes you know that?" Rain smiled back at her.

Jade snorted. "I did not! He acted like he had no care for the moons in the sky! Always looking down his snout at other dragons." She did a flip in the air, careful not to spill the goods that they had flown all the way to the Kingdom of Sand for.

Yes, he remembered it. The IceWing prince, he looked pretty but he acted like he was king of all the tribes or something. It made Rain dislike him as soon as he heard him talking to one of the sellers.

"Yeah," Rain agreed. "He totally snickered at the SandWing who was selling bracelets!"

'Speaking of.." JadeMoth said, changing the subject. "I got one." She stopped and hovered in the air, reaching into her bag to grab something. Then she pulled it out. "Ha! There it is!" She pulled out a silver wire bracelet with bits of moonstone woven in. It shimmered in the dying sunlight.
