OLIVE

I felt I have given them enough time, even though they have done nothing but trick me. And now they even left me with the responsibility of telling her the truth, what sort of family does that? I didn't get anymore mad than I was earlier because I was aware that she had no clue concerning her situation. I can't just imagine someone overhearing our conversation, what will they think about me? A king who can't even control a dirty human? How can he stop this war? Just thinking about it makes my blood boil. In the case of ending this war, Khalilah is very important to me... well at least that is what the prophecy says.

***************FLASH BACK*****************
'You don't know how desperate I'm trying to end this war!' I roared at the high priestess, she was also called messenger or lips of the gods. She laughs, a type of mocking laughter that makes my blood boil. I wonder what about our situation is funny to ? if we weren't in such sacred place I would snap her neck into two, give her something to laugh about.
'Olive dear, do you wish to kill me?' my breath hitched, how did she know my thoughts? No one could invade my mind... she laughs even more. 'Be rest assured, even though I'm the messenger of the gods, I couldn't possibly hear your thoughts. But your eyes reflect them perfectly.' her voice fades and a shiver went down my spine, she drops her staff and sat on her chair. 'Your heart is black as night, nothing could ever change it. You think violence and killing would stop this war but hatred only bears hatred and revenge will birth more revenge. You will never conquer this war with swords and spears.' I swallowed, 'You can't save us from this war when you aren't even saved from yourself.'  Is that what the gods are telling her? Alternatively, she wants to drive me over the edge to the point where I lose my mind and kill her; I smirked wondering how that will feel. 'I came here because the king said you want to reveal a prophecy; but you really do want to die today, do not you old hag?' she cackles, just showing me how fearless she is; calm down Olive. I do not want to be cursed by the gods.

'You are our future king and we all look up to you as our only hope; it's high time you start living up to our expectations.' Even though I hated this woman her words cut me, they cut me because I know I could never live up to their expectations but I won't stop trying.

'So what should I do?' I asked, running my hands through my hair. Any solution will be fine, even if it is a shred of hope I would grab unto it with all my might. I have to be a king that surpasses my father.  'You have to get married.' She croaks, at first it just whizzed past my ears and then gradually it settled in. 'What!' I scoffed, what kind of joke is this? How will getting married end this war?

'By getting married, the war should end? Am I to get married to a woman from each of the clans?' That is the only way this can make sense, she shook her head. 'No you have to get married to a human girl, that girl will be your ray of hope. That girl will be your light in the bottomless pit of darkness that rules your heart, only then can you be fit to rule us as a king; this is the voice of the gods!'  She drops her staff and lay down on her chair, what manner of madness is this?

'You quack, none of the prophecy you have given in the past was right and you still have the nerve to call yourself god's messenger? I bet father won't be mad if I snap your neck in half.' I growled getting up from where I sat and stalk towards her. 'How dare you tell a pure blood prince to get married to a weak filthy human? Do you know how much I despise them? They are no less than cattle! You insolent witch!'  As I tried to grab her I noticed something weird, she was asleep. How dare she? She sleeps in the presence of her prince, this would be a befitting reason to kill her but she was too still to be asleep. Reluctantly, I touched her, trying to get her pulse and my guess was right... she was indeed dead.

The messenger of the gods died on her seat, after giving me her last message from god, is that what the gods actually want? Will that be the only way to stop the insurgency? Even if it is a shred of hope, I said I'd grab it with all my might.
