In the evening after I reached Kandivali, I was exhausted. Really. It feels like my whole body is falling apart. I guess my schedule is becoming very hectic these days. Get up in the morning, study, work, college, study. This doesn't seem like a healthy schedule. But, no worries, I know I'll get used to it. I have to.

Like always I went to the general Store to get groceries for dinner and breakfast tomorrow and of course some biscuits for my dogs.

The dogs as always were waiting for me at the gate. Three cute puppies that were as small as my palm a month ago have grown so much that they can barely fit in them now. They came running towards me as soon as they saw me. It felt as if they were in a race and I am their finish line. All three of them jumped over me. Ready to eat the biscuits?

The mother dog slowly walked to me. She had a huge smile on her face. A pretty one. They are my family and hence when I start earning and have my own home I will bring them home with me. That would be fun.

The puppies jumped in my lap and we were ready to have a good night's sleep. Calmly and peacefully. They must have played the whole day, jumping around here and there. The mother also started to fall asleep. Of course, these pups must have exhausted her.

While I was gently caressing each of them, my mind started running wild.

At the college, the rumor, Mira's conversation about having a crush on me, which is not true maybe. I don't get it. If she asked me- ah! No. I wouldn't have allowed her to use my name. But, I might have, maybe after she asks me more than a thrice or something or not.

But then again, if she said those people about it, this will not take much time to spread around. I kinda understand her. She is in a position where no matter how much she will deny it, no one will believe her. Oh god! Only thinking about it is giving me a headache.
I picked up the pups and gently placed them near their mother.

Time to go home, cook and study. By the way, what's the time? I raised my hand to glance at the watch. Eight! My god. I need to run.

I rushed to the elevator and waited for it to arrive. Just when I was about to enter someone pushed me inside. Come on I was going in anyways, why push?

The elevator closed. I turned back. A man was sitting on the floor. White shirt, black pants. Wait! That's what dad wore this morning. I went closer to confirm my suspicion. OMG! It is dad. Is he drunk?

"Hey, Dad?!" I slapped his cheeks lightly.
"Dad?"

His face is red and he is wasted. My god! He has never drunk so much. I mean I know he always goes for a drink maybe after the office or to meet some friends or something but he was never so drunk.

Ting! The floor arrived. I pulled him up and then dragged him out of the elevator on my shoulder. Placed him stuck to the wall and opened the door, then kinda threw him on the couch.

Lemon. Yes, I need lemon. I grabbed a lemon from the fridge and cut it in half, removed the seeds, and then rushed back out to dad. Just a little bit, not much. A few drops will be enough. I opened my dad's mouth which stank a lot. Oh, I hate the smell of alcohol. Now I'm pretty much sure, never am I ever gonna drink it in my life, never. I pinched the lemon and then a few drops landed on my father's tongue.

After a few minutes, he got up. Guess the alcohol content was reduced a bit. I took a break from my cooking and gave him a glass of water. He drank it like a beast, gulping it as quickly as possible as if it is going to run away somewhere.

I took the glass back and was heading back to the kitchen when he caught my arm.

"Son." He chuckled. "Come sit here. I have something to tell ya."

He said something to me. Looked me in the eyes. How long has it been since I heard his voice? How long has it been since we looked into each other's eyes or face each other? How long has it been since he called me son? But was I dying to hear it? No. Then- then why are my eyes full of tears? Why am I crying?
I whipped my tears and sat beside him.

"Is there anything you want dad?" It somehow felt satisfying to say the word, dad.

"Yeah. First, It seems you are cooking something good. Let's eat together."

I laughed, still crying. I guess it's time I forget about it all. He is my dad and I am his son. No one can deny that. We should try going back to the way we were five years ago. We should-

"Today a good thing happened." He continued.

"What?"

"There is this lady I've been persuading. Well, she said yes today to my proposal. We will marry soon, son. You will have a mom again. I will-"

Everything he said after that. I wasn't able to hear anything. I just went blank. What is he saying? I got up. What the hell? What is he-

I went to the kitchen and closed the stove. I don't even want to think about this matter. I am only wasting my time.

"What's wrong?" He got up and came towards me.

"Stop right there," I shouted. He stopped. Still wobbling, trying to stand straight.

"I'm not making any dinner. If you want to eat make it for yourself." I quickly walked to my room and shut the door with a bam!

"Aman!" He shouted.

This man is unbelievable. What was I expecting? People never change.
