Today, I don't know what's going on with me. I'm just doing weird things. I have never acted like that with any girl but with Mira, it feels like some kind of attraction. Something just pulls me towards her. It all started after she climbed on me in the sick room. I was so shocked at that time. Her actions made me think she was hitting on me but her behavior said she wasn't. Just the heat of the moment. My face had turned hot and I just couldn't look at her. In the elevator too. She was staring at me the whole way and I just moved on my own towards her, I'm sure I was gonna ask something else but then spoke about her shampoo. Of course, I knew it was the work of a shampoo. What a ridiculous question that was!
Well, after what happened in that elevator, I just didn't have the guts to talk to her at all. So, I did what any idiot would do, run away. Yes, I ran away as soon as the last lecture ended. She must be shocked and must be thinking what's wrong with me? I'm such an idiot.
But when I reached the entrance, I realized she is alone and that Jenny is absent. Well, that means I have to accompany her. So I pulled out my phone from my pocket and called her up.
"Hello, where did you go?" She said immediately after picking up the call.
"I'm sorry I thought you were following me." I lied. "By the way, where are you?"
"Second floor."
"By stairs?"
"Yes"
"Perfect, I'm near the first-floor sitting area. You are on the main staircase right?"
"Yes, I can see you from here now."
"Oh, really. Where?"
"Look above, knucklehead. "
I looked above. She was slowly descending the stairs. Her hair fluttered in the air and she was searching for something in her bag. The phone was between her ear and her shoulder. She continued down and speaking at the same time, on the phone until she was right in front of me but my attention was completely drawn by her. Her smell of apples was everywhere, which as always none other noticed except me, and her eyes and hair were glowing under the shine of the setting sun.
She stood in front of me. Still looking for something in her bag. Our phone call was still on because neither I nor she hung up.
Before she knew her phone slipped out from between her shoulder and ear and was about to fall, to which she let, "shit!!" out her mouth. But fortunately, I caught it.
"My phone. Thank you, Aman. Keep it with you for a minute." She sat on the metal chair and finally pulled out her power bank. She raised her hand in front of me and I placed mine in hers. "Aman? Mobile?"
"Oh!" I gave it to her and then turned around and grabbed my head. Good going, Aman! Good going.
I sat beside her but she was getting up. I pulled her by her not wounded wrist and made her sit back. She looked at me, surprised. Her slightly warm hand was still under mine and for some reason, it kept heating up. I looked back at her. For the next few moments, we didn't utter a word and only stared at each other.
"Where do you live?" I let go of her hand and took my eyes off her.
"Didn't I tell you?" She also turned around.
"No." I placed my arm on the pole behind me and rested my chin on my fist. I could see her hair running over her ears which are red as hell. Pfft!
"Kandivali."
"Mee too." I got excited. Wow! We live nearby.
"West?" She asked leaving me heartbroken.
"East. But we can go together by train at least." I said. Yes, we can be together by train. That's enough.
"Yeah, but then I have to go in gents." Her voice seemed happy at first and then it was sad.
"You have a problem with gents compartment?" I moved ahead to take a look at her expression.
Her face gave a confused look. She was fidgeting with her fingers. "It's fine if you can't," I said, trying to take the burden off her. She must be feeling shy to say no-
"No, it's not like I haven't gone in gents before. It's just that-" she paused. I brought my face close to her.
"Just what, Mira?" I asked.
"I am going with you for the first time." Her face looked shy, she didn't look at me and kept looking at her fingers that were playing with each other.
A smile broke on my face when she glanced at me. Which made her look down again. I chuckled. Cute. Strange. Mira being cute is like once in blue-moon thing for me, at least. The only side I could see was that angry young girl one.
I caught her hand and pulled her downstairs. "Well, then you can just experience it now," I said, feeling hot near my ears, or rather my entire face. Am I blushing?
The trains were extremely full. So we let go of two of them but there was no point. The crowd will keep increasing. "You should go in ladies," I said. "It's not safe in gents."
"But then-"
"It's fine. Just go."
"But I want to go with you." That made me blush again and look away. Why is she acting so cute again?
"No, you really should go in ladies."
She walked ahead to the lady's coach and we boarded the next train. If only there wasn't so much rush, we could have gone together. I am a good listener and she is talkative, we are perfect pairs- they like to accompany each other. Before crossing the bridge to the east, I just had to wave a bye to her. She was looking for me at the entrance and I caught her in no time.
"Let's meet on platform 2 on Monday at noon." She said. I feel happy about the fact that she invited me to go and come back together. Maybe it feels like having a friend.
