Chapter 42

Next day, Addie woke up from her sleep, she was snuggled with Mama Lizzie. Papa had to go to work this morning but he'll come back for lunch. He just needed to settle things with work relations and then he can focus 100% on Adelia.

After yesterday's breakdown in Ma's embrace, Addie was in a mood. She's still drained from all of this sickness and somehow with how she's thinking about everything, she couldn't help but to feel depressed about it.

She's a girl with cancer and depression. So it's not a great combo to have.

She looked at her side and saw it was 9:30 am.

Her other parents promised yesterday that they'll come at 10 am bringing breakfast.

But since she's in a mood, she needs to cheer herself up for a bit before she starts worrying the hell out of them more.

So, she decided to go for a walk just around the hallway.

She wants to go downstairs and to the garden in the hospital but she doesn't want to go far away from Mama Lizzie and she certainly won't wake the woman's up. Addie knows Ma didn't sleep much last night because she's busy watching Addie's sleeping. She could hear Ma and Papa talking last night.

So, leaving the woman in the bed, letting her sleep some more so that she could have her rest. That's why she decided to just take a walk on this floor.

She gets out of the bed slowly, setting up her oxygen tank and IV and starts walking out of the room. She waits for another minute or so outside of the room just in case Mama Lizzie wakes up and panics looking for her but when she doesn't hear anything, she continues walking further.

She just walks and walks around the floor she's in. There aren't really many patients there because it's the exclusive VVIP suite floor.

Adelia did flash the nurses a soft smile though the nurses saw it as a sad smile. The nurses keep Adelia's company while she's doing her walk around the floor. Making random conversations and Adelia telling them about the movie she's filming right now but not too much spoiler

Until she saw someone in the black hoodie with a cap on. She recognized who that person was and excuses herself from the nurse, Nurse Ava.

"How'd you know I was here?" Adelia asks casually as she walks toward that person. That person seems to be shocked that their cover was blown. "Theo, I know it's you. You're not really discreet and I recognized those hoodies you're wearing. It's Arina's"

Ah. Theo Adams. The boy who broke Adelia's heart. The sources of Adelia started drinking.

"I've heard from Uncle Matt," Theo answered quietly. Honestly, he's still scared to come visit Adelia because of their past. He did make Adelia's condition worse but that doesn't mean he didn't care for her. And he also didn't want to visit Adelia, she'll have another breakdown.

So that's why he was just visiting from afar.

"You mean eavesdropping?" Adelia chuckles, making him snap out of his thoughts. "Because I know Uncle Matt won't tell you anything about me because of our last encounter"

Theo just took a deep breath, guilt consuming his inside. He just nodded his head

"I just want to see how you are and then I'll be out of your way. Didn't mean to be caught. I know you don't wanna see me" Theo exclaimed

"That's right" Adelia replied as she shrugged her one shoulders "But I appreciate that you're here"

Theo couldn't help but feel shocked. Isn't this the same girl that had a breakdown a few months ago because she didn't want to see him anymore?
