Mary awoke the next day on her and Travis' bed. "I'm so stupid," she whispered, turning onto her side.
It was only when she saw his face that she remembered all that took place the night before.
She stared at a sleeping Travis, peacefully dreaming. "Ugh" she groaned and covered her face.
After a few moments of contemplation and hard stares at the ceiling, Mary creeped out of bed, carefully removing Travis' arm that was draped around her waist.
"You've got to be kidding me."
Her clothes were not on her body, but dispersed in random places around the room. She sighed and began picking up her clothing, one by one.
Mary knew that last night was a mistake. It hadn't changed her mind about what she saw.
She was tired, almost drunken, and was manipulated once again.
She just didn't know where to go. Travis paid rent and paid for groceries: Mary had just started work so she never paid for much beforehand.
Despite of the fact, she hurried into the closet. Behind the pile of laundry, she found the large suitcase she'd used when she first moved to Sydney.
She began packing as much things as she could could fit into it. All her clothes, makeup, shoes, accessories and other items she claimed as hers; which also meant that she packed sweatpants and a hoodie that belonged to Travis.
Once she had done, she put on a pair of Nike Airforces and was headed to the kitchen.
Before she could even open the door the raspy sound of Travis' voice filled the silence Mary tried so hard to keep. She paused, cursed herself and turned around.
"What're you doing?"
"Uh, look, Travis I can't stay here. I'm sorry."
"Why? What's wrong?"
"You cheated on me? Yesterday was a mistake I was tired and overwhelmed and you took advantage of that."
"I'm sorry, okay? But we can work through this Mary I promise."
"No I'm sorry, my friends were right. I can't keep letting myself be hurt by you."
"Fine. Whatever!" Travis ran his fingers through his hair and clenched his jaw."I'll be back soon, just to pick some things up. But I'm not staying here again." Mary replied
"Farout! You only think about yourself- I mean what about me? How am I going to feel? I love you! And you're leaving me?" He looked angry now, but not normal angry. Like he was frustrated at something other than Mary.
Maybe himself.Mary grimaced at his response and a sour taste formed on her tongue. Travis was always like this - throwing a tantrum when he didn't get his way and being completely dependent on his girlfriend.
"I'm sorry Travis, I just need some time."
"We can be okay again?"
"Maybe."When Mary left, she got into her car and started driving to the only person's house she could think of.
