Mary stood at the door of the apartment she knew so well.

She found it hard to knock; it was a mix of embarrassment, fear and anger.
Mostly anger because of the fact that she was in that position at all.

Memories flooded Mary's mind, memories that she had tried to suppress for so long.

She sucked in a breath and shook her head- trying to rid the thoughts from her mind.
"Just do it." She told herself.

Knock, knock, knock.

A couple hurried steps drew closer to the door. Soon it was opened.

"Hello- Mary?" The pair of eyes shifted between Mary and the large suitcase standing next to her.

Suddenly Mary felt a colossal wave of emotion flow through her. Her heart plummeted as it filled with instant regret. The embarrassment had taken over. Her eyes watered in frustration, her head pounding with each second.

Her eyes stayed on the floor, with the pair of eyes on her, unsure of what to say. Mary felt so heavy, like there was a huge weight on top of her head and she was going to fall into the ground.

I don't even know what to say, I want to leave. She harshly swallowed her nerves and took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry, I- I shouldn't have come um I'll go." She picked her suitcase up and attempted to flee.

"Wait! Mary, what's up? Are you okay?" The voice said. The concern and sincerity in the sentence gave Mary that sense of relief and comfort she had longed for. A defeated sigh left her lips and the corners of her eyes prick with tears.

"Please, come in."
