"Mornin' sunshine."
"Hey..." I croak.Isaac is making breakfast in the kitchen. Last night he helped me unpack and set things up in my new bedroom. It feels so weird to be back here still. I slept a good 15 minutes last night. I mean, the pass 48 hours have been a haze. So many different emotions and events I haven't really come to terms with, and I don't think I really want to, at least for now.
"What's going on in that head of yours?" He pokes.
"Nothin." I reply. I faux a yawn to redirect the conversation. "Just couldn't sleep."
"I get it. Come, sit." He gestures to the seat opposite him.I sit on the stool in front of the counter, facing Isaac. He turns to me and slides a plate across the counter then turns back to continue making the meal. I decide to make conversation.
"Hey, um, what you making?"
"Don't worry Mar, its a surprise." Isaac murmurs, throwing a cloth over his shoulder. He's wearing a white tank top and is in plaid sweatpants. His shirt is tight which accentuates his back muscles and wide shoulders. I don't realise I'm staring until he turns around abruptly and catches me. I quickly avert my gaze onto the plate under me. I could hear the smirk on his face when he says, I hope you're hungry."
"Hmm." I reply, shyly. He scrapes a pan of 'scrambled eggs' that look more like yellow porridge onto my plate. He then sets two pieces of undercooked toast on top. I tuck my lips into my mouth and look up at him slowly. I tried to contain my laugh, but I couldn't.
"What?" Isaac exclaims, "I tried."
"You are literally the worst cook ever, nothing has changed!" I say between chuckles. "Oh my gosh!"
"I'm sorry. Hey c'mon at least have a bite. I tried for you."
"There's no way I'm eating that sorry. From now on I'll cook.""So... you're staying for a while?" He grins.
"Yeah, I guess I am." I return the smile.
We stare at eachother for a while, until I realise and clear my throat.I'll probably be here maybe a week? Or two? Just until I can find a place to stay, and then I can be on my own. Finally. That's all I need right now. No more boy drama.
